In the Disappeared episode about Molly Bish's case, they show pictures at the beginning. I think one of the pictures is a still picture of the crime scene (the lawn chair and Molly Bish's belongings on the beach).

One question I always wondered about this case was if Molly Bish actually sat in the beach chair? One way to have been able to tell would have been to have someone who weighs the same as Molly Bish sit down in the lawn chair.

The reason I wondered about this is because I saw something in the picture that I thought might be important. It is a small detail.

It looks like Molly Bish wore loose fitting sandals. I am going to assume that Molly Bish is like most of us if we were wearing loose fitting sandals. In order to take them off so you do not have to bend over you put one foot in front of the other and slide the sandal off your foot. This would mean once the sandal comes off it would be at least the length of your other foot in front of you. But the sandal in front of Molly Bish's lawn chair looks too close to the chair for this to have happened. Since the sand does not look disturbed around the sandal this is why I wondered if she actually ever sat down in the lawn chair.

I know there could be many different explanations like maybe one of the mothers or children at swim lessons that day moved the sandal closer to the lawn chair. Some reports say at one time both sandals were positioned in front of her lawn chair, so it is hard to know what information to believe.

There does not seem to be any sort of evidence that has been released to the public. I think police should release more information in her case if they have it. As for who abducted and murdered Molly Bish, it remains a mystery.

With hot sand on the beach and trees overhanging the beach leaving sticks in the sand, I think it is unlikely Molly Bish was walking around barefoot in the sand without her sandals on. I think this means that the abduction probably happened right near the lifeguard chair and first aid kit. If someone heard a scream that morning, how well does sound travel from that spot on the beach?

I thought I would write a post describing exactly how the items found at the Commins Pond Beach crime scene were taken out onto the beach. When I first looked at this case, I always thought Molly Bish arrived with all the items she took out with her to the beach because that is how the re-creations make it appear. I thought she brought all of them with her in the car and that the only item she only stopped to pick up each day was the police radio from the police station.

When Molly Bish got out of the car on June 27, 2000, she did not walk directly out onto the beach. She had to get the lawn chair and the first aid kit from a shed on the property. I do not know what the shed is or even if it is still there today. I think the shed could be a red barn on the property, but this is a guess. My guess is she either needed to have a combination or a key in order to open the shed. I think this because I would assume a first aid kit would have to be locked up properly.

In June 2000, the beach did not have a large white lifeguard chair like it does today. Instead, a lawn chair was used. About the only thing that is known for sure is that Molly Bish had to have visited the shed on the property to get the lawn chair and first aid kit as both items were found out on the beach along with her bookbag near the bench.

With the revelation that there is DNA in this case, this means that most likely all the people close to the crime scene have been looked into and cleared. It appears the abduction and murder was committed by someone in a white car who parked on a path at the back of St. Paul's Cemetery which is up the hill from where the beach area is. The case remains unsolved.

Her sister, Heather Bish, was 23 years old when Molly went missing and still recalls the details of that fateful day.

“I was 23 and my brother was 20,” Heather said in a phone interview. “I actually saw Molly 20 minutes before she went to work. I had an 11-month-old baby that Molly was godmother to.”

In 2021 authorities named a deceased convicted rapist, Francis “Frank” P. Sumner Sr., as a person of interest in the case.

Bish was 16 years old when she was dropped off by her mother to work her shift as a lifeguard at Comins Pond in the town of Warren on the morning of June 27, 2000.
