Hey ya'll, I'm new here but a member of my community has recently gone missing and I'm feeling at quite a loss so I thought I'd try here. It's a shot in the dark but I'd love any advice or thoughts or encouragement you might have.

Colrain police seek missing woman

COLRAIN — Police seek the public’s help as they search for a missing 34-year-old woman who was last seen walking on Route 2 in Shelburne over a week ago.

Morgan Bren had been self-quarantining after arriving from Philadelphia on April 4, according to the Recorder. She was last seen walking with a duffel bag on Route 2 in Shelburne, heading towards Greenfield, on April 7 at approximately 7 p.m.

Police, in post on the department’s Facebook page, said Bren had left Leon Herzig Drive about three hours before.

Bren is 6 foot 2 inches tall, approximately 130 pounds, with brown hair in a short pixie cut and brown eyes. She has a piercing under her lip and was probably wearing a long-sleeve black shirt, jeans and Palladium brand combat boots.

Members of the Colrain Police Department and the Berkshire Mountain Search and Rescue team searched the area extensively on Saturday.

Bren’s mother, Kate Kerivan, told the Recorder her daughter was originally from the area and decided to move back after having difficulty finding a job due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Those with information are asked to contact Shelburne Control dispatch center at 413-625-8200.

Update on the missing person. She was most likely wearing a long sleeve black shirt and a silver belt buckle, her hair is shorter than previous picture and she has a piercing under her lip. She was most likely wearing a pair of palladium brand combat boots. She is tall, androgynous, and very identifiable. Thank you, Priscilla Glen for the updated information and pictures.

Members of the colrain police department and members of the Berkshire Mountain Search and Rescue team conducted an extensive search yesterday of the area surrounding the last know residence of Morgan Bren. At this time no new leads have developed. If you have received emails related to assisting with a search, please reach out to the family. Any new leads will be followed up by members of the department. Thank you all."

My best guess is that the Colrain PD will not be updating any of these posts, but will make a new post if there is more information. I sure hope Morgan Bren can be found

Some new information in this April 14th article:

Self-quarantined woman missing

". . .[Morgan's mother] said her daughter has a history of mental health issues and is suicidal. She also said Bren recently underwent a major operation, which makes finding her even more important.

[Morgan's mother] said her daughter, who is originally from this area and attended college in Amherst and Vermont, had been living in Philadelphia for several years. . .Bren’s stated plan was to self-quarantine with a friend in Colrain for two weeks before moving in with her mother in Ashfield. . ."

Body of missing Colrain woman found in Connecticut River

FOUND DECEASED
The body of a Colrain woman who was reported missing in April was found in Montague along the Connecticut River Sunday morning.
The Montague Police and Fire Departments received a call of a report of what seemed to be a human body floating in the area of Cabot Street along the river.

The body was removed and identified as Caroline Morgan Bren.

That's a shame. This is almost certainly a quarantine related mental health death, whether accident or suicide. She seems like someone who was probably able to hold it together pretty well with the support of the sub-community she chose to be a part of but those communities have a hard time holding together themselves right now.

Her mother mentions mental health issues and suicide in this news article. Body found in Connecticut River identified as missing woman Rest in Peace Morgan.

People don't usually take their duffel bags with the explicit intent to kill themselves but sometimes mental health issues cause extreme risk taking. It's even possible that she tried hitchhiking and was murdered. It could all be put under the "mental health" umbrella but I'm personally curious to know a few more details. She seems like she was an interesting person.
