Not sure about Proctor's wife, but JOK's father was on the list the last time and never called. He stopped coming to court at some point during the last trial. Poor man was the image of heartbreak.

Notice JOK's brother and mother never sit together in court, and in fact stay as far away as they can from each other while staying in the front row. Methinks there is some major dysfunction going on.
Interesting too that John's father is on the defense list, yet the rest of John's family is on the CW list of witnesses excluding his father.

They never expected "the girl" to put up a fight, IMO.

As a Norfolk County resident this is so scary to me. How many times have they put away innocent people because those people had no financial means to fight back?
I can imagine a lot of times !!!

Thanks. That is where they were recovered later on Jan 29.

What I am getting at is the following. The early morning dashcam footage clearly shows some important parts of the defendant's tail light to be missing already before the Lexus was seized by LE.

So where were those missing pieces at the time? To my mind, either they were already where subsequently recovered by SERT and the tail light was therefore broken at the crime scene, OR those pieces were somewhere else e.g on John's driveway, and corrupt LE must have recovered them from that location, then taken them to the crime scene to be 'discovered' by SERT?

Or are we saying that corrupt LE used completely different tail light pieces taken from the sallyport and took those to the crime scene for SERT to find, and those original critical missing pieces were in fact never recovered?

I think it is important to understand how this scheme can actually have been carried out. I get that it would be possible to add more tail light from the sallyport later, but i wonder about those original critical pieces.
The taillight was completely put back together by the crime tech. However, there were extra pieces left over that did not belong to KR's taillight.

Yes - this is another element to the puzzle.

But i am still troubled by my question. Significant pieces are clearly missing in the dashcam footage. So where did those pieces fall, and how did they get to the crime scene?

Perhaps the initial cracked pieces fell inside the tail light? They could have easily been retrieved. Otherwise, I do not believe we know the answer.

And for JOKs arm to have been scratched and gnawed all the way up to his elbow, his arm also would have had to push into that socket a foot or more. MOO

The issue that needs to be explained is how does a human arm break that tail light? I'm 1000% certain that it can't! Simple physics tells you that there is not enough resistance from JOK's body weight to do that much damage to the tail light plastic the way the CW is claiming.

A guy 2 weeks ago on YouTube actually went ahead and purchased the exact same tail light from Lexus and tried to break it with a hammer. It took multiple hard blows to break it. The pieces were thick, hard plastic. Furthermore there is a light diffuser inside the housing that the CW claims was broken as well, which would make the light not functional. The problem with that is the Ring Cam footage from JOK's garage shows the light clearly working AFTER the time they are claiming Karen hit John. In my opinion I found the video credible.

There is no way, no how and arm could do that much damage to the tail light without breaking bones or at the very least cause extreme bruising. There is also no way no how the light could be working as shown in the Ring Cam footage from JOK's house if the light diffuser was broken the way the CW claims. For those wanting to see the video of the guy breaking the tail light, I would suggest googling a few key terms in my post. I've read the terms of service here multiple times and I see what other people post and I still am not sure what links can or can't be posted so I'm staying on the side of caution and not posting a a direct link.

In tonight's Canton Confidential with Michael Coyne, legal analyst for Boston News 10, I learned that the 5 part docuseries 'Body in the Snow' began recording during the first trial. Also, to the comment that Jackson and Reed reached out to the producer through an intermediary, there is no Son of Sam law in MA so KR is not prevented from being paid to sell her story. MA views this as a First Amendment right to free speech.

I find the whole media interview campaign with the release of the docu series just before jury selection in poor taste....it invited what happened yesterday and I think Brennan has legal standing in his request. This defense has loved all the media, the pink cheering fans as if she was some movie or sports hero and their names daily on the news. But in the long run not sure any of this is really to their client's advantage. Most that saw the docu series see a self centered very cold Karen and you come away not liking her no matter what you think about her guilt. I think once again we will see her prance into court and carry on laughing and whispering with her legal team. That does not play well with the jury and the last jury said so. I feel that if it had not had the potential to delay the trial Brennan's motion yesterday to include that evidence in trial would have been granted. I think the Judge has big summer plans and wants to get this done by June...I don't blame her ..given the charges are the same even with so much known about deliberations on trial one they went for the same charges again and could well have that backfire on them. I don't know anyone that thinks this was deliberate and leaving off that charge might have made for a cleaner trial. The third party stuff is more speculation than proof. I think Brennan seems better than Lally so far.

I hope Tom Beatty gets to testify this time and his daughter too. The defense didn't really get into BA's violence last time from what I recall. They focused more on the nephew's violent tendency. Seems to run in the family then. I think this is critical information, given all the other nonsense related to the Alberts/McCabes/Higgins that took place.

The more interesting part of Erin's story relates to possible witness intimidation by Jen McCabe and a friend as well as a call she received the night JO died. She wasn't to testify necessarily about Colin's violent tendencies. That was covered in the first trial with videos of him. She told her father about all this which I assume is why he's also on the witness list.

BA's behavior would be covered by the police officers on the witness list.

Did he test it under the same conditions?

I understood the commonwealth to be bringing in an expert about the effect of freezing temperatures on the brittleness of plastic.

The Defense has just added attorney Victoria George to their defense team. George is the juror from Read’s first trial who was made an alternate juror by Judge Cannone and, therefore, did not deliberate. She felt that there was some tampering going on in the 1st trial. We'll see if the judge allows it.

He did not. However I think it would be very risky for the CW to say that the tail light would be brittle in freezing temps. That would open the door that Karen's tail light could have shattered from brittleness when she hit JOK's car in his drive way.

Good point! How cold did it even get that night? I don’t think it got cold enough to create brittle plastic. I would think that would happen only from brutally frigid temperatures.

Karen Read's legal team has added a new member, according to a new court document filed on Wednesday. The new attorney is Victoria George, an alternate juror from her first trial.

George was just added as an attorney appearing on behalf of Karen Read to her criminal case, which is set for retrial beginning with jury selection on April 1.

based on courtroom demeanor and his often not being there (could be many reasons) I have always got the vibe the father is not 100% invested in KR being the one that caused his son's death.

This case keeps getting more convoluted. Wouldn't that be like having an insider who was privy to jury discussions? The same discussions as this jury will surely have?

She didn't make it in to the jury deliberations; and a new trial means a new jury.

She didn't discuss anything with the first jury. The judge kicked her out during the trial.

Sounds like the defense will be using her to assist with jury selection.

I thought an alternate sat in on deliberations and didn’t realize she had been kicked out. Interesting development.

And the CW just filed a notice of discovery!!!!! What the actual heck!????? How are they still magically finding "new" evidence less than a week before trial?? Of course absolutely NOTHING will happen to Brennan as the Prosecution is allowed to do anything it wants. Sickening.
