Karen Read has been charged with second-degree murder, motor vehicle manslaughter and leaving the scene of a collision in the January 2022 death of her off-duty Boston Police Officer boyfriend John O'Keefe outside a Canton, Mass., home.

She's pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Leading up to his death, the couple of two years reportedly spent the night drinking and bar hopping with friends before Read, 43, dropped O'Keefe, 46, off at the home of a fellow off-duty police officer for an after-party, PEOPLE previously reported.

Prosecutors say as O'Keefe exited the vehicle, Read allegedly proceeded to make a three-point turn during a winter storm, striking her boyfriend in the process before driving off.

After O'Keefe failed to return home hours later, Read allegedly went looking for him, before finding his body in a snowbank outside the home where she allegedly left him.

“I have a client here that’s entitled to her property, and if we can’t get it back, we’ll just have a judge decide,” Boozang said. “She’s an incredibly bright and strong woman, and she’s just moving forward with her life.”

The Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office declined to comment on the request.

“Apparently, [Proctor] thinks he’s above the law,” Scapicchio told reporters Monday, per WCVB. “He was served in hand. He was told to be here this morning. Instead, his attorney showed up and said he left on vacation on Saturday.”

The hearing did, however, put Read prosecutor Adam Lally in the hot seat. The assistant district attorney took the stand and faced sharp questioning from Scapicchio, who has accused prosecutors of waiting years to turn over key discovery and exculpatory evidence in King’s case.

Long before KR was a name known to the public, her Sept 15, 2023 pretrial hearing was covered by Canton public/community TV. In this proceeding, we get a glimpse of Lally's history of misleading the Court regarding Rule 17 discovery when defence advises (brings receipts) the Court they are still waiting on evidence after 18 months. IMO, when there's no consequence to this behavior by the CW, it's likely to continue with King's case above too.

Very interesting to also learn that Brian Albert told the grand jury 34 Fairview had surveillance-- but this was learned by the way of a question by a grand juror and not because the Prosecution ever made the inquiry of Albert! Of course, Judge Cannone interrupted Alan here...

Late yesterday, the news media received over 4,000 pages from Morrissey's personal email as part of an FOIA request, however some of the pages were blacked out entirely.

They're still going through the emails, although Jess Machado has been posting some of the more interesting ones to a twitter thread.

8/8/24 - video

I did see there's an email from Morrissey requesting $1M grant from the state to fund the retrial of KR's case -- blaming it on the defense's unusually high priced defense team.

ETA: add Morrissey's letter to Speaker of the house...

I saw this earlier in a different place and the line about a simple domestic motor vehicle homicide case has blown up into a national sensation honestly had me shaking my head and laughing. Gee I wonder why it turned into a national sensation Morrisey. Was it the multiple unethical actions of the lead investigator? Was it the tampered/manufactured evidence? Was it the states "experts" making themselves look like fools and being completely incompetent at their jobs? Then asking for more money to hire a special prosecutor and more experts for a second trial after the complete 🤬🤬🤬🤬 show that was the prosecutions case in the first trial while blaming the defense is just the icing on the cake.

Why does this not surprise me?

But Proctor, through his lawyer, said he changed phones in 2024 and no longer had access to those communications. On top of that, Proctor claimed his phone automatically deleted data after 30 days.

Does he not have access to those communications because he didn't back them up or did he get smart after his text messages about KR came out and set it up so that things would be deleted automatically?

Deeply disturbing is an under statement.

I think this was the letter certain people in the press referred to as a "fishing" communication by Morrissey to DOJ bc he was going nuts wondering what the feds had on him back in 2003.
It was/is an open secret in Norfolk County that Morrissey was being investigated and that he is of course corrupt. ....As the sign says, "Welcome to Massachusetts".

IMO only of course, this whole thing is about to bust wide open. Alan Jackson came back sure to help with the civil trial but there's that bigger "tanker truck" coming down the Mass Pike.

Alan's soon to be filing of Section 1983 of the Civil Rights Act of 1871. Suing state and local officials for violating Karen's constitutional rights. JMO but it won't be long.

Read the tea leaves about the Feds and Morrissey. His people say 'Oh that investgation is long over". AJ says not so fast.
Massachsetts is a D state and also I believe designated by our govt as a sanctuary state.
Karen's father did an in depth interview with Howie Carr of the Boston Herald. Alan Jackson gave his first interview to Howie. Howie is a member Mara L and friends with Pres T. Connect the dots.

If and when that suit is filed the CW will of course want to settle -
What happens is anybody's guess

Just a side note : IMO This is real unethical and eggregious prosecutorial misconduct - not the BS Iris was trying to pin on Linda Stanley out there in Colo (Suzanne Morphew case) most of that was small potatoes that occurs everywhere - Iris just wanted to tie Linda to the stake and burn her
beyond recognition..

ALL MY OPINION

Another interesting document posted by Jess. Morrissey was paying another firm $350/hour for advice on the KR case. According to some of the comments under this tweet, Morrissey actually founded this firm before leaving to become DA. Was this a way to funnel money to his pals?

A recent video. This is the first time I'm hearing about Tim Albert and his leaving the scene of a collision.
