Here is what I read earlier about reporters remaining
Thanks for sharing. Good to know - I specifically heard the judge ask the press to leave the court but perhaps she is bringing them back in off camera? I also agree that it is inappropriate to have the children come to court and I am not sure how I feel about the reporters being there.
The court could always offer up a transcript after the facrt

the judge asked them to leave the courtroom when I was listening before the video stopped
good. imo the only people who need to hear the kids given that they are being made to testify is the jury, public don't need to know especially in this age of social media and the rumour mill. kids have to get on with their lives and not have their own peers and complete strangers knowing about their testimony, who knows how they might be harassed or subject to unsolicited comment irl and online. they were not witnesses to kr's actions or anything material connected with JO's death. jmo

These poor children.
My heart hurts for them both.

Just saying....Is there any possible way other than to be angry at the world, after what they have been through? And the state puts them on the stand? Just shameless. MOO
Have you considered they might WANT to testify?

By my watch, it's getting close to 'Morning Break' time. Judge Bev has been a time keeper as far as breaks go. Wonder what she will do this am? Where's the tweets??

It's not the prosecution's job to inquire as to who might like to testify in a criminal trial and then accomodate them accordingly.

The decision to call the kids is squarely on Lally.

Phew I finally catch up so I can watch the trial and there's no streaming!! Although agree 100% no need to show minors.
In the years that I have followed true crime, I don't know that I've ever thought a defendant might be innocent. This may be the first! At this point I am truly on the fence.
The cast of characters is so sketchy. The dog, the butt dials, deletions. They are hiding something!! But what?
On the other hand the amount of collusion that had to have happened in a relatively short period of time among so many people just seems unlikely. We all know what they say about how two people can keep a secret- one of them's gotta be dead.
I see a lot of my self in KR. Successful, middle aged. I'm sober now, but at one time had an unhealthy relationship with alcohol that led to behavior I'm not proud of. And definitely tended to overreact/ become slightly histrionic when drinking. And easily angered, especially when it came to men. Suffice to say- none of her actions, to me, scream murderer. I'm sure she's looking back on that night wishing she had done things differently.

IMO

No reporters are tweeting yet, last tweets were since 10:00ish. I suspect after minor children testify there will be recess for lunch. If any reporters start to post, will begin to post their tweets. ;)

@FallRiverReport

He went to the podium with no notebook, no notes. He paused before he began to speak. He only asked John's nephew three questions. First, do you know what it means to raise a hand in anger. He responded that he thought he knew what he meant.

Yan then asked the nephew if he had ever seen John raise a hand in anger to Karen. He responded no. He asked if he had ever seen Karen raise a hand to John and he responded no.

Yannetti then said: "I'm so sorry you were asked to come here today.”

Prior to Yannetti asking those few questions, Lally asked many questions of the nephew, including questions about what his relationship was like with Karen.

"Sometimes good. Sometimes bad."When asked what it was like when it was good, John's nephew responded that they were "Being a family. Happy being around each other.”

Sometimes when it was bad, he got in trouble for doing something wrong and Karen would yell a little and had a bit of an "attitude.”

Sometimes, Karen would "ignore" him and not look happy.

I should mention, that a few times during this testimony, Lally, per usual, was hard to understand. He also had a few moments that in the way that he asked the questions, was hard for the child to know what he meant.

John's niece was then called to testify. She is older than her brother. One thing we learned from both children is that John and Karen never argued outside the home, although they did say that arguments were more frequent in the months leading up to John's death.

The nephew was at a sleepover the night O'Keefe died. The niece was home alone and remembers being awakened by Read at 4:30am. The niece says Read shook her, left and came back, told her to try to call O'Keefe.

"She was just pacing down the hallway, asking what could've happened," the niece testified. "She said, 'Maybe I did something." "Later, she said maybe a snowplow hit him."

It appears that the few twitter reporters who posted kids' testimony have begun removing tweets. MOO
