Lally is asking Lt OHara about the SERT search protocols.
Is it normal to search an area that has already been searched?
-yes

Lally asking what they were looking for.
-informed that victim was hit by a vehicle, searching for taillight pieces.

His team did a grid search of the front yard at 34 Fairview to look for pieces of broken taillight.

They arrived on scene after dark and used headlamps, rakes and shovels to sift through the snow along the roadway.

"We found multiple pieces of red and clear tail light…on the street in between the flagpole and the fire hydrant," Lt. O'Hara says. He also testified that his team found one black sneaker at the scene. #WBZ

They shoveled and removed snow from the front door over to the fire hydrant area. O'Hara: we found a sneaker in between the flag pole and fire hydrant - the sneaker was flush up against the curb and upside down.

O'Hara: We found 6-7 pieces of red and clear plastic tail light.

Showing up at dark to perform a search seems especially strange to me. I am baffled at MSP's protocols.

OHara testifies they searched the scene from 5 - 6:15.

Says they may not have found everything. Wanted to return again when there’s some snow melt.

OHara now explaining how evidence is secured.Expect a red solo cup/Stoppie grocery bag if there’s a cross.

The jurors have heard that pieces of taillight were found well after the incident. OHara’s testimony here could support that claim.

The initial SERT team search lasted 55 minutes. Lt. O'Hara says he told Lt. Tully: “there’s a good chance we did not find everything” and he wanted to come back in daylight

Lt O'Hara says Trooper Proctor was not on site.. several large larger pieces of tail light marked for evidence. ADA Lally has evidence photos. He shows them to defense attorney David Yannetti who will be cross examining this witness. Theer are quite a few.

O’Hara says all of the pieces were found “at ground level.” Says snowplow berm was about three feet deep. Snow was about 18” deep on the rest of the yard.

So they DID find the "missing" sneaker, which is not what we have heard previously. And they did find pieces of tail light. Hmmm, waiting on cross.

This was the second search I believe?

All of the pieces were found “at ground level,” O’Hara says. Says snow was about 3 feet deep at snowplow berm and about 18 inches on the rest of the yard.
