A man accused of multiple rapes is set to be arraigned in Norfolk Superior Court on Tuesday on charges stemming from a 1996 Quincy sexual assault.
Ivan Keith, 61, formerly of Bridgewater, left the state 16 years ago and was arrested last month after investigators from several law enforcement organizations discovered him in Seal Cove, Maine. The Norfolk County District attorney’s office has not said what Keith will be charged with in relation to the Quincy rape inside Quincy High School, the Patriot Ledger reported.

On Tuesday, Keith is slated to face a Norfolk Superior Court Judge in connection with a rape case from that county, officials said.
Bristol County officials said last month that DNA linked Keith to rapes in Quincy, West Bridgewater, Taunton and Easton in the 1990s.
This superior court arraignment is in connection with the 1996 rape in Quincy, officials said.
“This case was the subject of a John Doe/DNA profile indictment in 2012,” Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey said in a statement Friday. “There was DNA evidence collected subsequent to the report of this rape, and the victim provided a physical description to detectives in 1996. That information became the basis for this indictment. We have amended the indictment to reflect this defendant’s name and scheduled his superior court arraignment.”

Keith fled Massachusetts 16 years ago and was arrested earlier this month in Maine.
On Feb. 15, 1996, Keith allegedly went to his alma matter, Quincy High School, and raped a 60-year-old woman who was working late in the school’s administration office. Keith tied up the woman using her scarf and pulled out a gun during the attack, according to prosecutors and court documents.
