IMO the Australian mushroom case is a good comparator for this one. The comparison shines a light on the character of the explanations. The mushroom lady (her name escapes me) has a very muddled story. RD's story isn't muddled at all. As far as I can tell, she basically says I did X, then I did Y, then I did Z because a guy told me to. Simple terms. She probably is telling the truth, as far as she understands it. But then you look at RD's fact sequence, and you're through the looking glass. It sounds logical, but is only rational if something is wrong with your brain.Right, she’s under county DA investigation for a reason. Probably as in the Australian mushroom poisoning case, this will go dark until suddenly an announcement of charges, or no charges, if that is the case.
The mushroom lady's goal is clearly to conceal and divert. Her whole presentation is "conceal and divert". And then there's the underlying whiff of evil, artifice (note the fancy dish, compared with RD's thrown-together soup), skill (she styles herself as a mushroom geek), malice.....
As for Kouri Richins....IMO she's simplistic like RD, but not loony. She thinks she's a mushroom lady, though, but since she has no special skills, cleverness, artifice, expertise... and constantly needs a Skye-rescue...
