No phone call to SC on Wednesday by SIL to reconfirm what time to meet at mechanics, no phone call from SC to anyone on Wednesday. No phone call to SC on Wednesday by anyone. No one checking on SC on Thursday. It appears that SC isn't the only one who doesn't communicate well as suggested.
Phone calls from cousin on Wednesday but your correct in thinking where was the call to Sandra to meet at the mechanic and the Silk has said he was running late getting bout of work that day. How do you meet someone with no exact time. I think perhaps he came by Sandras and picked up the kids and put them in car seats but the Sil did say he drove Sandras car to the mechanic and Sandra drove his truck. Maybe the sil just showed up and they left from Sandras house. I think he drove to Sandras house first because I heard him say he drove her car to the shop

All true, except her cousin did call and speak with Sandra on Wednesday before she left to drop off her car. But she never heard back from her. All of this is strange.

Sil said: I got out of work a little late that day. I picked the kids up and she followed me back towards my house and dropped it off at the shop. She got in my truck and hung out with the kids while I went back in there and talked to my friend about what needed to get done and all the work."- This is quoted from The Vanished podcast.

So, she drove her own car to the mechanic and then waited in his truck.

Oops, forgot about her Cousin T calling SC on Wednesday while the boys were still there; thanks for the reminder HarmonyE.

Just an after thought. If I made tentative plans for someone to be picked up and spend the night at my place, I would have called them back to confirm whether or not they were coming so I could make my own plans for the night. That's just me.

I'd love to ask Cousin T a few questions, and I think the first would be - how did you leave it with Sandra that afternoon? Did she say she'd think about it and let you know only if she decided to come over? Or did she just say she'd call later after she'd dropped the car off? And if she said she'd call later and didn't, why didn't you call her when you didn't hear from her? Did you leave the ball in her court? Was Sandra in the habit of just blowing you off without confirmation of plans?

Along those lines, when SIL knew he was running late, why didn't he give Sandra a call to let her know what was going on? The lack of phone calls even before the disappearance is so strange. Unless of course, Sandra just never answered the phone, so her family didn't bother to call. That's the only thing that might make some sense. Not that never answering your phone makes sense...

BUT, he also said they always firm up the night before with her if watching the kids and eventually her daughter just showed up that morning with them in hopes, and daughter with trepidation due to not able to contact her mother. Then luckily her aunt was free to watch them and she went on to work.

What luck Laina had Right! I did reported to the vanished and the sil saId Sandra drove her car. I thought I heard different. Ill check others. Just curious! But I do remember.her thinking..why did he have to drive Sandras car! Crazy saying they always firm up the plans but did not. Other interviews Laina said how her mother always called back. Imo is it Trying to justify not checking in on Sandra. If it were me I would have been looking for my homebody mom and securing a babysitter for work or for something wrong as you had a gut feeling.
IMPORTANT talking about lights, was the outside lights on or off!!!????????????

I don't think we'll ever know for sure. If you take a look at the real estate listing before Sandra purchased the house it says the house had "modern dusk to dawn lights at exterior doors". So if she'd left them on, they'd have turned off at first light in the morning. We had them for awhile and just left them all on the time, which I guess is the point of them.

I, like you HarmonetE and others on here would like answers to questions to shed more light on this situation. Didn't SC's landline come with voice mail ? How could SC always call her daughter (LM) back if she had no voicemail or caller id ? SIL said they always verify the day before with whomever is babysitting but on Thursday they didn't even check; knowing she had no car. SIL said he told his wife that SC was probably at a neighbors, but she only waved to neighbors when driving in and out; so SIL was speculating or just trying to alleviate his wife's concern. Lots of questions, not many answers.

Additionally, it was mentioned that SC had a small circle of people she interacted with. It appears to me that they were all relatives; no mention of anyone she grew up with, no friendship with someone in her and her father's neighborhood.

Does anyone has the footage of Sandra going into Cumberlands? I only can fond the still shots. I can't tell if the boys are in the back?

The video itself is no longer a part of the news story that once contained it. However, the angle of the camera at Cumberland Farms was not positioned such that you could see into the back seat of the truck when she was getting out IMO; the windows appear to have a tint as well. When she walked back to the truck it was parked off screen and only Sandra was in the frame.

I was under the impression Boston Times that SC drove her car with the boys in it to the mechanics and met the SIL there. I think I read that on an earlier thread. I only listened to one episode of The Vanished #269 and I don't recall anything being said about how her car got to mechanics.

The sil talked about it on The Vanished podcast. He met her at her house after work. The kids rode in his truck and she followed in her car. If you scroll up I typed out what he said word for word. I doubt Sandra ever drove the kids anywhere as that would involve three car seats. Plus she had no cellphone.

When I originally read she drove her car with kids in it to mechanic's, it was quite a few pages back. It was someone else who said it detectorhector, not you. But, thanks for correcting that.

I find it interesting that Sandra was not equipped to drive the kids anywhere. With both parents working, it seems like there could have been a situation come up where a child might have needed to go to the hospital for stitches or something. Seems shortsighted to not have a person looking after them who can drive them or at least has a cell phone.

And before anyone says that it's just because of needing three car seats, I've driven small sedans with three installed across the back. They make low profile ones now just for this purpose; they aren't cheap but they are very safe.

This makes me wonder if she wasn't a confident driver or if she's had a lot of accidents in the past, leading to her not wanting to take on the responsibility of driving the kids.

So if she's not fond of driving in general, I wonder if this could relate to why she happened to go missing on the one day that she couldn't have driven herself. Was there a place she might have put off going, or only went with other people? Maybe this is something not well known to her family if it's infrequent.

Because of the accidents and the lack of a cell phone, it's possible the parents did not want Sandra driving with the kids, and saw no reason to buy additional car seats. I can see them justifying this by telling themselves that day care centers don't drive with kids either, and would have to call 911 in an emergency they couldn't handle. Personally, I'd want a caregiver of my three little kids to have access to a vehicle, but I suppose I can understand that reasoning to some extent.

I do think Sandra's lack of a vehicle that night may have some direct relevance to her disappearance. Without her vehicle, she may have felt "trapped" at home and perhaps more open to going out with someone who swung by to say hello. Still a bit curious that this someone didn't call her first though.

Agreed. The parents of the children evidently had very different ideas than I would have, of what was safe/okay for a caregiver to be able to do. And that's alright...just different.

It seems from information in the The Vanished that Sandra was perhaps known for not always answering her phone. So it is possible that there are people in her life who, when they want to visit/see her, just show up. I know that my parents and their friends were this way in the pre-cell phone era. There were certain people you are close enough to, that you'd just swing by.
