BOSTON — A granddaughter of Robert F. Kennedy died on Thursday afternoon after suffering an apparent overdose at the Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port, Mass., according to two people close to the family.

The young woman, Saoirse Kennedy Hill, 22, was the daughter of Courtney Kennedy Hill. She was at the compound, where her grandmother, Ethel Kennedy, lives, when emergency responders were called on Thursday afternoon, the family friends said. She was taken to Cape Code Hospital in Hyannis, where she was pronounced dead.

Before enrolling in Boston College, where she was a communication major and vice president of the College Democrats, Ms. Kennedy Hill wrote about her struggles with depression and mental illness for the student newspaper at Deerfield Academy, a private preparatory school in Massachusetts, in 2016. Her depression, she wrote, “took root in the beginning of my middle school years and will be with me for the rest of my life.” She described “deep bouts of sadness that felt like a heavy boulder on my chest.”

IMO, I don't think it will be publicized -- there is absolutely no hint of ill-will or worse towards this young woman, etc., so IMO the probable autopsy and medical tox screen will probably be the only investigative part of this sad event. The medical investigation will probably be finished very soon, and it will be kept private, IMO.
Another promising young person lost to those who love her and lost to the world at large.
Prayers for her family to have the strength and faith to get through this are my thoughts for all of them, and for any other family who has faced this sadness and loss.

I've been watching the news this morning, so sad. No mention and I'm sure toxicology will be done before they would ever reveal that, but I would put my money on opiates.

We will probably never know. She apparently battled depression and mental health issues for a while and had developed a heroin problem. So, accident or suicide? Unless there was a note, its hard to say. Tragic. That family sure has more than its share of tragic deaths.

There was "Breaking News" during last evening's NBC report with Lester Holt. At the time, details were sketchy and all that was said is that there was a medical emergency at the Kennedy Compound. I didn't know who the victim was or what had happened until this morning. Sad that the Kennedy family must endure yet another tragic death

Per live report on CNN minutes ago, autopsy has been completed. No signs of trauma to body other than those deemed to be attempts to revive. Toxicology reports needed to determine cause of death. Prayers for the Kennedy family...
