It's not pointless. There is a lesson here. A very important lesson. It's called IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING!!!!!!! And believe it or not- I DID NOT MAKE IT UP!
But what exactly did they see???? I'm still confused. Because they saw an hispanic male they should call 911????

I'm sorry. Maybe I'm not following you because I live in NYC and come across creepy men and woman on a daily basis. These woman are most likely not from Princeton and have grown up in a diverse city/town and wouldn't think about calling LE cause a male said sexual stuff. Did he touch them? Did he tell them he killed someone? Did he show up the day after with cuts etc? No. So what exactly should they have been calling LE????

She failed her civic duty to be vigilant and notify police of her interactions with this "VERY CREEPY" Hispanic man.

Please also remember that she didn't hesitate to weigh in once he was identified and captured.

So yea, I'm my eyes, she failed on that one. Doesn't mean she was the only one. But it seems really obvious to me that under the circumstances in this case she should have said something.
Is it also true that the upstairs neighbor should have said something?
After seeing her interview, why do you think she didn't?

Anyone paying any attention at all would see this whole thing as an anomaly in Princeton and it would be something that should raise an eyebrow. Its Not New York City. Not even close. Nothing but purebred white folks up there.

I've said my peace.

I Want to post a photo that will change direction of conversation- can you help me with that ?

The person who saw something did say something. The witness who saw the black SUV parked at the side of the road with the hood up and guy standing nearby and then saw the same SUV, no guy, hood down and windows up.

Also, the person or person(s) who did see VM walking/jogging on that road also said something and let LE know.

There were no eye witnesses to VM's abduction and murder.

No contrast. Whole neighborhood is Hispanic. And also neighbor presumably had no knowledge that our perp worked in Princeton. Which is of even great importance.

And now the defense lawyer is already preparing to get the DNA evidence thrown out on the assumption that the perp didn't understand what the LEO was asking for when he got the buccal swab. Already!
I've heard all the arguments for having defense lawyers, but I cannot fathom a defense lawyer who would KNOW from DNA evidence that the killer is guilty and STILL tries his darnedest to get the killer set free. How do these people sleep at night? I'll tell you how - they've never been the victim of a violent crime. That's how.
It's one thing to defend innocence. It's inexcusable to defend evil so it can continue.
The job of the Defense Lawyer is not to determine the truth, but to raise doubt regardless of the truth.

Indeed. As well as their role is to force the state to meet the burden of proof and advocate for their client and client's rights in an adversarial system.

She had both clues that the Post Office worker did not.
Dark SUV.
Hispanic male right age, build, etc
He was right there living in the same building.

We need to move on from discussing the postal workers' responsibility. For all we know she did call in a tip describing a creepy Hispanic guy, maybe her boss did, and for all we know that was 1 of 1000s of tips that LE sorted through.
No advance report of creepy FedEx guy doing deliveries in Princeton would have prevented Vanessa's death and I'm not sure LE would have got the guy any sooner by following-up a tip of a lewd-talking Hispanic after the fact.
I for one, am hoping they've got the right guy, that charges will stick, that MA courts can throw their mightiest punishment at him and will celebrate the fact he's off the streets!

Well said.

So the witness saw the hood popped at 12:45pm.

Vanessa starting out at 1:10pm

It was a hot Summer day.

Was he waiting specifically for her?

Ms. Ribot, a former employee in the Post Office where Ortiz delivered packages to, said it was known within the Office that Vanessa would run on Sunday afternoons. How widely known, it does not say.

We don't know if he was specifically waiting for her, as opposed to waiting for any lone female to jog or walk by.

What does everyone think about a comparison to the northborough suspect sketch?

Hard for me to determine from a sketch, but the fact that in both cases the suspect had the hood up raises red flags for me.

This photograph shows the area of the scene of the Northborough attempted abduction- Lyman street near the railroad tracks and Talbot Rd intersection. It also shows something else. Possibly coincidence , but possibly significant. That large building at the upper right? Yep. That's a huge FED EX Center ! Immediately adjacent to the crime scene.
