Maddox Jolie-Pitt going to school in N.Y.C.

...wanted to clarify that I wouldn't have wanted to have been yanked around as a child, but as an adult, I would LOVE to travel the globe.

I have to settle for the next best thing -- viewing pics of a friend of mine who has traveled the globe. I really envy her and I realize how much I've missed in not being able to travel as much as I would like.

Hmm I don't know how grounded, normal and healthy it is to have a $1600 Valentino bag custom made for your 2-year old. But it's very cute.

This is the article I remember reading about how they were going to live in New Orleans and put their kids in school, etc...I am just surprised me that they have already moved on.....To me, it looks like New Orleans wasn't really where they wanted to have a "more permanent basis".

BTW...this doesn't mean I don't like the couple or have anything against them....I'm from the New Orleans area and this just caught my eye (the reason I started this thread). No need for anyone to get defensive!!:)

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have adopted a new hometown.
In a joint red carpet appearance at the Golden Globe Awards on Monday, the twosome confirmed to Us Weekly they had relocated to New Orleans.
"We love it there," Jolie told the magazine. "The kids are going to go to school there. We're really looking forward to it."
Word of the assorted Jolie-Pitt's Big Easy move was first reported last week by E! Online Gossip Guru Ted Casablanca.
Pitt previously said in September that the family would be spending time in New Orleans while he was on location filming The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Now, the globetrotting duo has apparently decided to settle down in the bayou on a more permanent basis.
According to real estate records, Pitt and Jolie paid $3.5 million in cash for a six-bedroom home in the French Quarter, with plenty of space for five-year-old Maddox, two-year-old Zahara and seven-month-old Shiloh, not to mention any future additions to the family.
The property reportedly boasts a spiral staircase, an elevator, a gourmet kitchen, a large private courtyard, a separate two-story guest house and parking for two cars.
The couple was said to be hopeful that their move would help draw attention to the Gulf Coast's continued struggle to recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.
Pitt has already teamed up with nonprofit organization Global Green USA to jointly commission 20 eco-friendly homes in low-income neighborhoods that were hardest hit by the storm. Construction on the buildings is expected to begin this month.
Meanwhile, Jolie is reportedly optimistic that distancing herself from Hollywood will enable her to be less of a movie star and more of a soccer mom.
"She's interested in befriending normal moms so she can do things with the kids," an unnamed source told Us Weekly.
Though Pitt and Jolie have said they have no plans to marry anytime in the near future, they have both publicly expressed their desire to expand their brood, with Jolie stating they would be more likely to adopt the next time around.
"Yes, we have Shiloh, and it's been a wonderful experience, but we want to find another brother or sister in the world for our family," Jolie told Diane Sawyer in an interview last month.
At the Golden Globes on Monday, Pitt joked with E! News' Ryan Seacrest about the couple's family-planning strategy.
"We're thinking soccer team. World Cup. We are going to start our own country and enter the World Cup—and dominate," Pitt said.

Most likely the bag was a gift.
Celebs get such things all the time because it gives the designer free advertisement if a famous celeb is seen wearing their product.
Even if it was specially purchased for her I don't see how its not grounded or healthy???
Does anyone expect Ang to shop for her children at Walmart?

I do like them alot actually. I love what they have done for people in New Orleans and many other countries. There are not many people who have such a high profile that I do like. I guess Im looking at how I am and how my daughter is. We are both homebodies. She does love to go out but she loves her quiet time at home with her toys and being in her own bed at night, she has night terrors when she is away from her bedroom at night. What is right for one person isnt right for everyone though.

I dont see anything wrong with the expensive bag. I buy my daughter alot of toys and jewelry and many people might think its excessive but I was raised that way myself. I feel fortunate to be able to do it. They give so much of their money and themselves that there is no reason they cant spoil their kids a bit, its fun to see their little faces light up when they are bought stuff. Her kids are not being raised selfishly they see loads of generosity coming from their parents. I love what they are doing in the global green projects in New Orleans, I would love to have my own.

It may be a gift since I know my Mom has a retirement job just to buy her grandkids things and take them places. She doesn't need to do it by any means they have enough and she knows it but she loves seeing the joy in their faces and its fun for her to buy her things that she couldn't afford for her kids when we were little.

I agree. Plus, I don't think Maddox is going to be the only one at this particular school with a designer bag.

I love Brangelina. They might go back to New Orleans, they did stay there the longest I think. Home is where your family is and as long as they are with their family and feel secure and loved that is what is most important. I wish them the best.

Celebs receive 'freebies,' ALL the time -- just goes with the territory. I've not seen Angelina's kids dressed up to the hilt for the most part, either -- they look like normal, average, every-day kids, who just happen to have celebrities for parents.

You can't possibly judge a family by the kind of 'bag' Zahara's carrying. C'mon...

The children certainly seem to be flourishing under Angie's and Brad's care. They seem happy -- they seem grounded -- they seem loved. These kids are going to have advantages over and above most kids, simply because of who their parents are. They are very lucky to have been adopted into what appears to be a warm and loving family. With the perks that so obviously have come their way, will be disadvantages and issues they will have to learn to live with. I'm sure Angelina and Brad aren't perfect -- nobody is -- but you certainly see how much they seem to love these kids.

I say good luck to them all. I LOVE the humanitarian work that Angelina has undertaken -- and Brad is certainly stepping up to the plate in New Orleans! These are two wonderfully gifted people who are willing to divest much of their time and $$ to help those less unfortunate than they are. I wish them and their children all the best.

learning in French??
I hope the child is learning subjects in
English, too, since they live most often in English-speaking countries

Yup. Also thousands of 'military brats' turn out just fine. We have several families in our family that were in the military and travelled all over creation and there's nothing wrong with their kids. In fact, most of them turned out to have a taste for travel themselves.
That is so true, my DH is a Military Brat. They moved all over the World and he turned out fine. He actually loves moving, just the packing sucks.;)

Yes, I do understand about the use of celebrities and product placement. Angelina is also the face of St. John, a very popular women's line.

I don't expect her to shop at wal-mart, however, I do think a 2 or 3 year old having a custom made designer handbag is a bit excessive. Even if it was a gift. As far as it being a gift, that is neither here nor there. The fact that Zahara is getting used to having her own custom-made haute couture handbags when she is 2 years old...is a bit over the top, IMO.

I'm sorry, did you somehow get the impression that I was judging the whole family by the bag?

I simply said I don't know how normal, grounded and healthy it was for a 2 year old to have a custom designed haute couture bag. Maybe it is normal in all other families but mine.

Anyway... I will leave you all to your worship of St. Angelina now. Wasn't Brad married at the time they started their relationship?

Birdie,

I don't worship anyone but the big guy upstairs! :) I didn't even know it was YOUR post referencing the bag -- I just noted that someone had posted something about the bag's expense and then seemed to deem that a bit too much...something to that effect.

ALL I am saying is -- you and I don't KNOW these people. It 's also over the top to have your own private jet and travel all around the world, too, isn't it? I lived in and around Beverly Hills for a long time. I've seen first-hand how celebs live. Many of them DO live over the top, but many also know how to handle their lives so that the money doesn't actually 'get in the way,' if you know what I mean. Many give to charities, and not just their money, but give of themselves -- it just doesn't get splashed all over the tabloids.

Most of us here I'd venture to guess, are just average folks -- I can't even imagine having that kind of ticket item at my own expense.

What seems to be important, for me anyway, is that Angelina has acknowledged she is paid insanely for what she does; she states she feels she has an obligation to help whenever and wherever she can and she does. She works very hard; her love does seem to focus around children.

What happened with Angelina, Brad and JEN is an issue that apparently has been resolved, between the three of them (hopefully so anyway). Brad's behavior at the time all of this stuff came out about his relationship with Angelina wasn't admirable, but it happened. He made a mistake, perhaps, but in the end, it does appear that he's happy...they all seem, well...happy.

It certainly SEEMS as though Angelina and Brad are raising sweet kids. Time will tell; the kids certainly seem content and well-loved.

So again, I don't worship any human being, but I DO admire those that have the ability to go out and help make the world a better place, however they can. None of us is perfect and I certainly have the right to state that I admire the Jolie-Pitts, because I do. Sorry if that bothers you...

Gee, I don't see anyone here doing that. I think we are simply stating our opinion's, we are allowed to do that? Right?

At only 2 years old, I doubt she can grasp the concept of couture, much less know that she has a couture handbag. Also, it's what they can afford, it's not like they are living beyond their means like so many do these days!

For those of you concerned about Zahara getting used to carrying a custom made designer handbag at such a young age--I don't think you have to worry, she doesn't have a clue it is a "designer bag", if it really is.

In my opinon, the "Jolie-Pitt" children will have a good life. I truly believe they are dearly loved and always will be.

Just as I am allowed to do in my posts? right?

Oh and BTW I have met St. Angelina in real life and didn't care for her much; for those who say we don't know these people and don't have a right to have an unfavorable opinion of someone we have never met.

I am sorry I brought up the subject of the bag, I didn't know I was going to be so roundly attacked for saying it was CUTE.

Hi Birdie! Nice to see you posting! :)

I saw a picture of Angelina the other day and it looked like she might actually be on the short side. Did you see her standing up? It's funny how we form a picture in our minds of how tall a celebrity is...I for some reason thought she might be tallish.

Hi IdahoMom:) You are correct, she was rather short. At least I thought so. I am rather tall at 5'8" so I sometimes think a lot of people are short, but she was very petite and tiny IMO. I have met a lot of celebs and I agree that it can be funny how you form a picture in your mind that they are tall. I also did not think she was that attractive in RL. She has one of those faces that looks especially attractive on camera.
