Not just a financially wise robber but one with a heart who mails back what he doesn't want when he's done. Please if I were a pick pocket I would take the euros why not they would be easy to get rid of and any bank to change then into another currency. I'm familiar with the US dollar and the euro but when I hear Sterling I think silver. I'm guessing he didn't have a bar of silver in his wallet so if someone could clue me in. Thanks

Hi Spaz... "pound sterling" is UK money, so sometimes people refer to it as "sterling" when talking about the money as a whole, and "pound" when referring to a unit of the money. Sometimes people also use the term "quid" in place of "pound". 1 "Pound" is worth $2.01 in the US... while 1 Euro is only worth $1.36. You are better off taking the sterling than the euro, if are wanting to be picky and are left to make a choice. LoL But then again, if you are robbing someone, money is money is money, so you would probably take it all, no matter what currency it is.

I think if she had Charge or any thing else the McCanns would have exploited it to their favor. "Please help us to raise money for our sick child who has been kidnapped. She is ill and in need of medical attention." Can you imagine the fund would be twice as big. I can't imagine them keeping something that would garner attention secret.

Except for the fact that GM may have Narcissistic Personality Disorder:

(from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissistic_personality_disorder)

To the extent that people are pathologically narcissistic, they can be controlling, blaming, self-absorbed, intolerant of others’ views, unaware of others’ needs and of the effects of their behavior on others, and insistent that others see them as they wish to be seen. They may also demand certain behavior from their children because they see the children as extensions of themselves, and need the children to represent them in the world in ways that meet the parents’ emotional needs.

Which would fit with Shazza's conclusion:

I think it would be difficult for any parent, and the McCanns would be more informed about the condition with them being physicians.
This could be a reason why the theory that the McCanns had something to do with her disappearance. It wasnt the perfect enough family that they so desired.

Anyway, I tend to lean toward an angry outburst with dire consequences.

Pounds to Dollars, that is $2 million dollars... if only other missing children had that kind of attention. Does anyone know if her parents have open access to this money?

In most cases, wouldn't these parents have long been under investigation and had their children removed by social services for acting so negligent in leaving their small children alone in the manner the McCann's did?

I think it is odd that previously anonymous, ordinary doctors have a child disappear and nearly immediately they are supported by wealthy people, top government officials, silent friends, and a compliant and complacent media, and have generated $2 million dollars US in funds for their cause.

I find it strange that $2 million US is not enough money for them. They encourage fundraisers like cake eating contests and collection buckets put out so they won't miss every possible dime that could be theirs.

Something is fishy about this, but what could it be?

There is a limited company (they had applied for tax exempt status but were refused. As we tap away here the McCanninites are petitioning for tax exempt status and there is a counter petition making the rounds). The fund is to be used, put rather blithely by team McCann, to help find Madeleine and to financially assist her parents living and travel expenses in their search for her. Pretty vague, I'd say, which renders it pretty much Carte Blanche for the head McC. They have also notionally stated that the fund will also be used to 'help in the search for other missing children'. So far, I haven't seen anything ponied up to help other missing children.

By not being registered as a charity this fund, as I understand it, is not subject to audit or rigorous control of dispensation of funds.

And yet people keep throwing money at them.

*shakes head sadly*

Remember the saying, "A sucker is born every minute."
No one is forcing people to give money; IMO stupidity has no equal.

Isn't that sort of like what people critisized Josh Duckett and his family of doing? I seem to remember some people saying that there was money put in a fund, and no accountability as to how it would be spent. Am I off base?

That's true, Trino, but you also have to understand that in the UK, where most of the support is, there is almost literally a blackout on news about Madeleine and her parents unless it's pro-McCann. Their faction is in control of the newspapers. Negative letters to the editor and news articles are either not posted at all or are pulled as soon as they go into the paper. They even have a government liaison handling the media, for crying out loud.

PJ abandons all international clues of Maddie

Sixty-six days after Madeleine McCann mysteriously disappeared from the room where she was sleeping with her twin siblings, in an apartment at the Ocean Club resort, in Praia da Luz, Policia Judiciaria (PJ) abandoned all the clues that they had in various countries, which pointed to the possibility that the british child had passed through or was staying there. The investigations are more and more concentrated in the area where Maddie was kidnapped.

“None of the many sightings that were registered in Malta, and which were exhaustively investigated by local authorities, was confirmed, so we discarded that lead”, chief inspector Olegario de Sousa told DN yesterday. And the indication that came from Morocco “was put aside, given the bad quality of the images from the petrol station in Marrakesh”, where a norwegian tourist guarantees she saw the child with a man.

“Moroccan authorities did not even send us the requested images, given the fact that they were taped one over another, which made the idetification of the people who circulated there, totally impossible”, he observed, admitting that the inspectors’ work is more and more centralized in Praia da Luz. One of the persons who are responsible for the investigation had already referred that “the key to the mystery lies in Praia da Luz”. Madeleine’s parents also don’t exclude “the possibility that she is here”.

I know some will connect this to Murat but I really dont think so. I actually think the PJ have been a lot smarter than people have given them credit for, I also think they could be playing a bit of a mind game with G & K

I did wonder with the parents moving into a new apartment recently, wonder if PJ might have installed any listening devices? Mind you think they G & K might be wise to that.....just a thought.

Hope you're all ok:blowkiss:

Nigerian kidnappers free 3-year-old British girl

Monday Jul 9 07:48 AEST
Nigerian kidnappers have released a 3-year-old British girl they had seized in the southern city of Port Harcourt, authorities said.
Unknown gunmen had snatched Margaret Hill from the car in which she was being driven to school while it was stuck in traffic on Thursday morning.
"We can confirm that she has been released back to her parents. She is fit and well," said an official at the British High Commission in Abuja.
No further details were immediately available.
The girl's mother said on Friday the kidnappers had called her, first demanding a swap between the daughter and the father, and later demanding a ransom. The amount demanded was unclear. The kidnappers had threatened to kill the girl.
The High Commission official said he did not know whether a ransom had been paid.
Abductions for ransom are common in the oil-producing Niger Delta, where Port Harcourt is located, although it is rare for children to be targeted.
The abduction of the toddler caused outrage in Nigeria, including among militant groups in the Niger Delta who said it undermined their campaign for greater local control of oil revenues.

I've looked up CHARGE syndrome online, and I don't think Madeleine had it. CHARGE starts out with some pretty significant heart and lung birth defects, and you can tell from looking at most of these children that something is wrong with them. Many are blind and deaf.

Hi Spazkat- it wouldn't have been a stranger.

I would think they would use pictures of children with major symptoms of this for illustrative purposes. From what I read, there are varying degrees of this syndrome.

Hi everyone, I just posted a snippet from the Australian Media about the Release of Margaret Hill, great news, hope Margaret is well and can put this behind her and live a wonderful normal life.

When I first saw the headline....Kidnappers release English Girl, I thought of Madelaine, my heart was doing flip flops, but when I clicked on the story it was about Margaret Hill, dont get me wrong I was happy that she was released but disappointed at the same time because it wasnt Madelaine. I feel guilty thinking like that, but I am glad that Margaret was released.
Prayers to Madelaine.

With so much going on at the same time--it is easy to confuse the two kidnappings when you just hear it announced. Would have been great to hear both British girls were released and safe.

As I said above, I am overjoyed with the safe return of Margaret. Another snippet from Skynews.

Same here... I can't help but feeling a little guilty too as well as somewhat relieved for the little girl. It is unfortunate that the McCann's have such a stronghold on the media. Maddie should come home safely, no matter what has to be said, what should be said, or what could be revealed.

Prayers for maddie

MG

I noticed no other media--such as UK news-- are reporting anything on Madeleinene's case.

I have found nothing like MoonGoodess has posted about the PJ:

:hand: :hand: wonder why????
