Hello All,
There are reports today of a couple of sightings of our girl. Unfortunately, most of the reports are in other languages. One very interesting development in the sighting at the restaurant was that someone had the foresight to grab the drinking straw that the little girl used. What is the fastest turn-around time on a DNA test?

Brussels Witnesses told belgium police that they saw a child resembling Madeleine McCann at the belgium-dutch border, accompanied by a dutch man and a supposedly british woman. A drawing of the suspect was released by belgium police.
According to the police in Torges, the suspicious individual had a strange behaviour, and it is informed that the person is approximately 40 years old, 1.80 m high, and had a beard grown for a few days. The supposedly british woman appeared to be 25 years old.
The same witnesses indicated that the suspicious couple was using a Volvo, of a recent model, with a belgium number plate that starts by the letters VUV.
Other witnesses also said that Madeleine McCann had been on the terrace of the café De Pause, in Torges. The belgium police released a drawing of the suspect on Wednesday.

The news here in Australia about Madelaine in non existent. There has been no news at all, the only time I hear of anything is here at WS.

This is a snip from Colomom's link to the Brussels paper, but I can't seem to delete anything without deleting the sketch. This doesn't seem to fit the egghead suspect, though, does it?

We are now living in Belgium for the next few years, and are making a trip to Germany probably Saturday morning for school clothes and supplies for the kids. We have to go right through Tongeren to get there so we are going to stop by Cafe De Pauze and I will take some photos, and be on the lookout for Maddie. I am sure the police presence will be felt. It is strange to be over here now and stop by a gas station and see Maddie's flyer. I can't believe I live 48 miles from where she was possibly seen. There was also a possible sighting in June sometime in Leige which is close to Tongeren and close to me as well.

The Nederlander, roughly translated, says that a student was in a flower shop when a man and woman came in with a little blond girl with blue-green eyes. Although the man spoke Dutch, she was suspicious when she heard English being spoken by the woman with an English accent. When they took the girl to a cafe, she called the police. They came a half-hour later and took away the drink and straw the girl had used.

I read an article yesterday, just a reiteration of previously published info, that again stated the Tapas bar was only 40 yards away. In this case, it has become my thought, that there is no desire to publish facts, on either side of the fence.
Aside from one or two "leakers" of the PLE, there is no substantial information from this source.
I agree that it appears that there is very little to report so the media seems to grasp at anything and then embellish. It makes it very difficult to have a knowledgeable discussion.
I have thought on several occassions that LE was on the brink of a break through in the case. One was very early on, when the (I think retired) British investigator consulted with PLE and determined that the windows and shutters had not been compromised the night Maddie disappeared. The BI said that he had, if IRC, satisfied himself that the shutters were not disturbed, PLE was doing everything possible and had a great deal of evidence and he predicted the case would be solved within a week or so.
This was an early article - it has been at least two months since it was published (there is a link to it in one of the earlier threads).
Because of the conflicting information and changes in stories I am sure it makes the job of the LE much more difficult. The policy of silence has also worked against them because people assume that they are incompetent when they do not talk about their investigation.
Now we again hear that specialist are helping in the investigation, but it is too late? Some articles state that the specialist and PLE do not seem to be working together and are at odds (see Calikid's link from yesterday). Then, they say British LE have been involved all along.
At different times, I have highly suspected that somewhere in the ranks of the PLE, someone was involved if this is really an abduction. There have been different reasons for this, but the main reason was the lack of action in the search identified by the Dutch psychic. This particular person appearantly managed to locate a couple of British girls within a mile or so of their location. Dutch authorities seemed to think there might be something to the communication and it was passed on to PLE. According to media reports - PLE would not have acted at all except for the media outcry and when they did act they did not do a very good job.
I honestly believe that the PJ know alot more than we realize. I also believe that they have been working closely with the British LE. I think they have to put all the facts together (a luxury that we do not have) and make sure all the "t's" are crossed and the "i's" dotted. Maybe the "search" was not necessary because they already know what happened? They did a little insignificant search to satisfy the media who were howling for action. I really think there will be a "announcement" and it will be very dramatic. The arrival of the high ranking British LE officials is very telling. Maybe everyone is getting ready...
We still don't know what happened to the towel that was found? We don't know what happened with Murrat's DNA? We don't know who sailed away? And we don't know who the last person to see Maddie was..... was it Matt, the friend or was it Gerry?

The arrest at possible summer thanks to the collaboration of the inhabitants of Santa Cruz of Tenerife which one transmitted to the police force details in connection with a whole blue ground which had been observed around the place from where the young person had been removed.
For recall, Antonio Toscano appeared in the business of Madeleine McCann affirming to know the man behind the kidnapping of small the British, called “El Francês” which we could join in Paris: the man in question with a past related to the paedophilia but it was in France on May 3. Witnesses affirm will have seen Madeleine in the Belgian border Brussels – Witnesses designated to the Belgian police will have seen a similar infant to Madeleine McCann in the Belgian border accompanied of a Dutch man and of a supposedly British woman. A portrait-robot of the suspicion was diffused by the Belgian police.
It's hard to tell if he's an egghead from the front.
That "egghead" description was so vague...anybody know how tall (in feet/inches) is 1.80m ??

I always wondered about this guy Cali, he was always hollering about "The Frenchman". I think he (Toscano) really has it out for him because of a run-in they had years ago. In that case Toscano and another fellow worked very hard at putting together a case, even as far as infiltrating the Pedo hangout, and they were not able to make it stick. The Frenchman walked.
So, once again he is accusing The Frenchman of being involved with a kidnapping of a young person and this article tells us that a 28 year old aquaintance of the victim confessed.
Toscano needs to be more sure of his facts before he speaks because people will not believe him in the future.
Shades of crying wolf...
And what is sad is that so many people in some of the other forums take his information as gospel truth.

'Police are investigating the sighting of girl who bore a "striking resemblance" to missing Madeleine McCann at a restaurant in Belgium. Officers stressed they were taking this latest lead "very seriously". A woman reported seeing a child she believed to be the missing four-year-old with a young couple on the cafe terrace in the town of Tongeren, near Maastricht, on Wednesday. It raises hope for her parents on the eve of the 100th day anniversary of her disappearance. Madeleine disappeared three months ago on Friday and her parents Kate and Gerry McCann had been preparing a fresh publicity wave to coincide with the milestone.
The eye-witness - a children's therapist - told police a child like the British girl was with an English-speaking woman and a Dutch man. The man was described as white, 5ft 10ins tall, aged about 40, with dark hair, large eyes and protruding teeth and several days' growth of stubble. The woman was described as aged around 25 with tanned skin and and brown hair and of Mediterranean appearance.
A police spokesman said: "The woman told us the little girl bore a striking resemblance to Madeleine McCann and was behaving nervously. She said she got up to call us as soon as she saw the girl, but when she returned to her table all three of them got into a car and left.
"The woman is a credible witness and we are taking the sighting very seriously."
Police released an identikit picture of the couple and a description of the four-door Volvo they were driving. The Volvo was a recent model with a Belgian number plate beginning with the letters VUV, police said.
