My point was that Kate was 'joking' about it. To me it is not a joking matter and I find that not appropiate.

Yes, JDee, that's it exactly. It's the use of the word "joking" that struck me as wrong. Maybe she wasn't joking, exactly, and I don't think that word should have been used. It was probably said with more pain than joking. It struck me as wrong if she WAS joking.

Apparently the dogs "marked corpse odors" in the Ocean Club and ''other places.'' Has anyone heard this from any other source--and if so, what were the other places?

The Ocean Club is, for the most part of the cases, frequentado for English citizens, from there the possibility of the blood to belong to somebody of that nationality. Incontornável is, however, the fact of, beyond the sanguineous vestiges, the dogs also to have marked corpse odors in that one and other places. Also the couple and friends of the McCann had granted to the inquiry samples of saliva, of form to make possible the comparison with the genetic profile that comes to be found

Originally trace dogs marked her scent from the apartment to another apartment nearby and also to a small market and Indian takeout store.

There have been occasional rumors of a fifth couple, friends of the Tapas group, but not staying on the property.
~snip~
Once again (altogether now), This makes no sense. It sounds as though the couple's identity was a total mystery, and that they were difficult to find. But surely some of the Tapas group were quizzed as to whether they knew other people in the area... It's hard to believe that Russell O'Brien would totally have forgotten these people. I am beginning to think that the pact of silence has broken down, that at least one of the couples is telling everything they know, and that is why some of the information that Sol and Noticias is reporting is just now coming out. It's new information about the timeline and the other couple and the blood, all within the last week. However, I can certainly imagine that the new couple wanted their names kept out of things, but I certainly can't imagine that anyone would withhold information in a case that is being called a kidnaping. Why were they so difficult to locate- their names must have been on the car rental forms, and if they are 8 1/2 months pregnant, they have probably been at home since returning from Portugal.

Well, this "scoop" didn't last long....

DIÁRIO DE NOTÍCIAS - 13/08/2007
FRIENDS OF THE MCCANNS WILL BE CALLED BACK IN FEW DAYS FOR INQUIRY

The PJ is just waiting for the results of the blood analysis.

The PJ keeps on concentring on the the circle of the MCCANNS´friends, convinced that the key of the mystery of Madeleine´s disappearance on the 3rd may night lies within the group holidaying in Praia da Luz. These people, being currently just witnesses in the case, will be interrogated again by the Criminal Investigation Department of the PJ of Portimão only after the results of the analysis of the blood found in the apartment of the Ocean Club resort being known, which is expected for this week.

The expectation is huge, as, according to a poll achieved by YouGov for the Synday Times and published yesterday, more than 70 % of the British people condemn the McCanns for having let Madeleine alone in the bedroom on the night of her disappearance. Only 23 % of the questioned answered they were unlucky with the abduction of the child.

In the meantime, sources close to the investigation admit that, in the place where two blood traces have been found, the British dogs "have traced a dead body scent". On the other side, according to the same sources, Madeleine´s body has not be burried, since the person who wanted to hide it would not have had the adequate equipment.

Furthermore, the one who would want to hide the body would not burry it in that place, since the sandbanks are not so deep and the body would be quickly discovered. Thus, there is an increasing hypothesis that the body has been thrown into the sea in a garbage bag with stones, so as to remain in the bottom of the sea.

In the case it would be catched in some fishermen nets would permit to find it sooner or later. Or, in another hipothesis, the body could have been hidden in the middle of some caves, as it was admitted by the harbour police 3 days after Madeleine´s disappearance, when the abduction theory was admitted by the Pj.

The investigators have now an idea of what happened "at the beginning and at the end", but knowing "how and why" Madeleine died is still to be discovered. Accident or murder, possibly as a consequence of an act of agression, namely a slap ? "Everything is possible" confined the source to say. Surely this case "will not be a new Joana´s case", the child who vanished 3 years ago in the village of Figueira, concluding to her murder by both mother and uncle, even if the body has never been found.

Besides, the strong pressures of the British government towards the Portuguese one are bothering the investigators, who are working day and night to discover where Maddie is. The British policemen acting on the ground are considered as "cordial and very colaborating ones", especially regarding the quick obtention of informations from the UK on the McCanns and family and friends. The presence of the British policemen allowed "avoiding burocracy and lost of time" necessary for formally requesting informations from the Uk.

Nevertheless, according to the informations obtained by the DN just after Madeleine´s disappearance, the Pj would not have accepted the help of the British authorities. It was so later on they admitted they could give a lot of help.

Ran across an old article (May 6) that has a couple of references of note as well as being an interesting read to compare with current information out there.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article1752277.ece

A reference to the "They've taken her" statement as coming from Trish Cameron (Gerry's sister?). Also mentions distance to the Tapas bar as being 150 feet.

Just wanted to make sure we have a link posted here.

Hope you all are having a nice morning/evening depending on where in the world you are. :blowkiss:

The article says:
Trish Cameron, McCann’s sister, said: “Kate came screaming back to the group crying, ‘They’ve taken her, they’ve taken her’. Gerry was crying and roaring like a bull.”

So it was Kate who said "They've taken her," it was just the sister who reported it.

From the May 6th article:

At 9.30pm Gerry McCann checked his children and they were sound asleep, with Madeleine lying with her comfort blanket.

How does this fit in with the open door and maybe she went into her parents room?

...She recalled that the twins were still asleep in their two cots and there was the small, bright pink wool blanket that Madeleine likes to hold when she sleeps. “We walked out quickly so as not to wake up the twins.

...Staff believe it was likely that entry would have been through the french doors because the shutters would have been damaged if they had been prised open.

Staff said no problem with the shutters.

...(from the aunt): [The police] tried to downplay the enormity of it and said Madeleine had perhaps wandered off.
Police thought no kidnap.

Obviously, no mention of Kate telling LE... "Cuddle Cat" is placed up high, out of reach of Maddie, has to be an intruder"....

Hmmmmmm? :waitasec:

I was pondering another possible reason why the McCanns did not use a babysitter. Perhaps one (or both) uses hard drugs, and they did not want a nosy childminder to discover their "stash", or perhaps use some of it.

  • #512
You would think Kate would be shrieking, "The cat was moved! The cat was moved!"

Also, I wondered about Kate's "what would you want to tell Maddie right now" statement--"We love her. Maddie knows we love her."

Not, "We are looking for you sweetheart, we will never stop until we find you, we will bring you home. We love you and we will not ever stop looking for you."

I didn't find the mention of Maddie's behavior so odd as I did the "she knows we love her."

Took two days but I have finally caught up with everyone!!! Boy, you guys have been busy - great work all!

After watching the entire inverview posted a few pages back I have a few comments. I can not believe that they both answered questions about the recent allegations by saying we don't read portigases (sp) and don't read blogs on the internet. I don't believe for one second that they don't know what is being said about them. What about all the threats of being sued we've all heard about the last few weeks??? Why lie about something so ovious?? They could have proclaimed their innocence, denied the allegations or even said they welcome the new look at the investigation....any of these choices would have been a better response instead they just choose a ovious lie??

Colomom, I agree with you about the end when Kate was asked to speak to Madeleine. She looked very uncomfortable and acted surprised to be asked such a thing. Then she didn't really "speak" to her...she said "Just that we love her but she knows that". Not We love YOU, Madeleine. And how could she be so sure that Madeleine knows that??? If she was kidnapped, who knows what they have told her to explain why she in not still with her family. She's only 4 and 3 months would feel like a lifetime to her, she probably doesn't think she will ever go home. My heart is breaking just thinking about it.....................

How can her parents not go through the ups and downs with every new "sighting"??? I know that we all do and we are not her parents (even though I think we all have adopted Madeleine in our hearts as one of our own).

Everytime I've seen these two, the more I can't help but think they are involved. Their actions and reactions just get stranger and stranger.

I pray everyday that Maddie is found alive but with the news coming out this last week the hope is getting harder and harder to hold on too. My prayers are sadly changing to finding the truth and getting Justice for Maddie!!!!

You guys just loooove to make me work, don't you? ;)

Here is a link to the blog of the gentleman that visited the Ocean Club. If you look through the pictures there is one of him standing in front of the front door. You will note the number: 5A

I am 99.9% sure that the link I posted is for the actual apartment the McCanns stayed in.

Heyy, but you are so great at it. Thanks for all the information and keeping us up to speed on this!!

Why would Gerry & Kate not tell the police that they took Maddie out for an early dinner before bedtime?

Did something happen at the dinner with her that led to her disappearance later in the evening??

"Who stayed with Sean and Amelie THEN? Did they go with them or were they left alone at that time, too?
These parents bad choices/selfishness make it even worse. I find it interesting now that the PJ is doing alot questioning, that they are resigning to the fact that she might be "dead" now.

So according to Gerry's sister, Kate did scream "They've taken her". Of course she wasn't an eyewitness, but we've heard this account many times, and I believe it to be accurate.

And read this: She recalled that the twins were still asleep in their two cots and there was the small, bright pink wool blanket that Madeleine likes to hold when she sleeps.

And this: At 9.30pm Gerry McCann checked his children and they were sound asleep, with Madeleine lying with her comfort blanket.

No mention at all of Cuddle Cat. It's like Kate even lied about it being a favorite toy. And we have a totally different time for when GM checked on the children.

Does anyone understand what this means: McCann and his wife, both 39, yesterday walked hand in hand through the apartment complex. They had lunch with the twins at the same tapas bar as the evening before. McCann returned alone to the apartment, emerging with a suitcase and a bucket and spade for the twins.

Good find Calikid.
A suitcase? Why go back to the beach with a suitcase?

It's very hard to keep up with this case - I try but just can't seem to do it!

I hope that it gets its own 'forum' on Websleuths.
