Why would it matter if the window was "jemmied", when the door to the villa was left unlocked, and anyone could have gotten in?

Wasn't that sweet of them to leave the door unlocked, "in case of fire" ....Eyeroll

I now have visions of the mythical intruder strolling in ths patio door quite calmly, and then attempting to get out of a window with a child in his arms, and trying to not wake either her or the other children sleeping, or make himself heard by anyone else, all the while there's the unlocked patio door to go out of!

Me, too! I have been thinking the exact same thing!

Yes that's what we are asked to believe.

We are also asked to believe that the checking took place through the front door (street side) which was further away than the verandah side, which was unlocked.

So instead of going through the verandah the checkers allegedly "went the long way" and had to lock/unlock the door besides.

Then they changed their mind (another mistake? oops sorry) and decided the doors were not locked.

If it talks like a duck, and walks like a duck...guess what?

An abductor stole the duck????

Well ducks do lay eggs, therefore the eyewitness's first sketch looks like an egg... With a wig:)

Then, once he struggled out the window (right beside the unlocked door) he wandered down the stairs and straight past Gerry.

Who didn't see him, even though he was on a mission to check his children, allegedly.

Checking Fail Gerry, the perp was right there in front of you! The perp was carrying the child right past you in the street and you didn't recognise her!

Tanner didn't recognise her either! Just stood and watched M being lugged away by Eggman.!!!

Then she told someone about it....2 hours later...

"I didn't want to upset anyone".

Please..........!

Oh dear me, it's massive! They said the window was the point of exit! The police wasted time checking that window, and what did they find? Kate's fingerprints.

They lied to the police! The first of many lies.

No massive. They would not know.. She was just guessing..

They should have checked the window no matter what so it was not a waste of time.

Wow, They found her fingerprints on the window of the place she was staying.. where she probably opened and closed it a dozen times while being there..

Yeah, it was so important that they told EVERYONE who would listen. EVERYONE. If it was so unimportant why were they telling EVERYONE?

Good job the police did check, and they found out that piece of information which could have indicated an intruder was false!

That CNN report is so annoying constantly referring to her as "baby Maddy". She's not know by that anywhere else and she wasn't a baby??

Maddie detectives hunting two 'German-speaking men': E-fit of suspects revealed this week as McCanns pray Crimewatch reconstruction results in a breakthrough

Scotland Yard were aware of the two men when Maddie went missing in 2007
They were dismissed but the investigation team now want to find them
E-fits of the suspects will be broadcast on Crimewatch on Monday at 9pm
Similar appeals will be made on Dutch and German television next week
Kate and Gerry McCann will fly to Munich to make live appeal on Wednesday

Scotland Yard says the un-identified men were seen in the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz at the time when Madeleine, then aged three, went missing on May 3, 2007.
Witnesses told Portuguese police who originally investigated the case that they saw two German-speaking men at the resort that day, but little or no importance was placed on them at the time.
Now British detectives are keen to trace the two individuals to establish if they are connected to Madeleine’s disappearance or to eliminate them from the investigation, a Scotland Yard spokesman said.

So why were they dismissed before and why did SY change their minds?

Since Scotland Yard began reviewing the case in 2011, detectives have interviewed 442 people in 30 different countries and have drawn up a list of 41 potential suspects.
Officers are pursuing 4,920 lines of inquiry, of which 2,123 had been ‘completed’.’
Detectives now believe that their ‘timeline’ holds the key to discovering what happened to Madeleine. Det Insp Redwood said: ‘Our work has significantly changed the accepted version of events and it has allowed us to highlight very specific appeal points.

This article is a little confusing

Madeleine McCann: British man arrested in the hunt for missing girl
13 Oct 2013 08:48

The suspect was held in a swoop by Greater Manchester Police after the Sunday Mirror last week revealed that a man bragged about seeing Madeleine alive just weeks ago.

A respected barrister told us the man boasted to him that he had met the child on a Mediterranean island. It was claimed Maddie was “introduced” to the man this summer.

It is understood that the Manchester officers who made the arrest also seized computers from a private address and sent them for forensic examination.

So it appears that the arrest was this week, after the article about the alleged sighting came out. But then there's this statement in the end that talks about an arrest in September. Is it the same arrest or another one and if it's another one, is it also related or is the quote randomly attached to the article because of the location?

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: “A man was arrested in September on suspicion of possession of drugs and conspiracy to distribute indecent images of children. He has been bailed pending further inquiries. An investigation is ongoing into this matter and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”

I hope it leads to finding Madeleine but even if it doesn't, it seems like anybody who would "boast" that they were introduced to a missing minor in (probably some very disturbing circumstances), even if it's not true, would be more likely to be found with child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 on their computers than not. Either they have fantasies about children being abused or they have some very bad company with lots of experience abusing children.

I don't know what happened to Maddie, but do any of you remember the kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart from a huge, multi-million dollar home in Utah which she not only shared with numerous siblings, but was sleeping with her slightly younger sister, Mary Katherine, when she was abducted from her bed by Brian Mitchell? If not, go to the top of the page on WS, and put Elizabeth Smart kidnapping into the search box. Or use Wikipedia.

Elizabeth was 14 when abducted. Brian " Emannuel" Mitchell allowed her to go to the bathroom down the hall next to her parents' room where they slept, and then to get dressed, advising her on what type of footwear to pick, with the entire household present in other rooms and her sister awake and lying beside her. Mary Katherine was threatened with death if she spoke. I think she was either 7 or 9 years old at the time.

She waited for HOURS before waking her parents to tell them about the man who appeared in their bedroom and took Elizabeth from her bed, and from the house at knife point. It was said at the time, and for years later, that MK didn't want to alarm her parents, and didn't understand what kidnapping was, being raised in a sheltered Mormon home.

Recent interviews with Mary Katherine, as Elizabeth's book on her 9 months in horrible captivity, reveal that MK was AFRAID that Mitchell was COMING BACK FOR HER.
She had good reason to fear this, because the man tried unsuccessfully to kidnap their very young female cousin soon afterwards to keep and also as stated companion for Elizabeth.

Think about the bizarre minds of deranged kidnappers before dismissing childrens' fears. Also, Mitchell knew the family because they had, with great stupidity, picked him up to do remodeling on their huge house and MK was finally able to remember who he was but it took months for her to say, probably partly due to the extreme traum, and another man was blamed and jailed, where he died, innocent of the crime.

They have been reviewing this case since 2011, so nothing really new then.

IF they are commenting on two german speaking men in newspapers if they are guilty they will have gone underground by now.

Not me-So far, the only thing I've made up my mind about is that the McCanns are lousy parents.

I hate to tell you this but many Europeans are not as paranoid while on vacation as Americans are. I have traveled in my yuth and it was not unusual at all.
They often go down to the hotel bar for a drink while leaving children in their room.
This case may have stopped many from doing so.
but No I have not assessed that they are lousy parents at all.
Maybe a bit naive and the pain must have changed them much.

  • #920
It's not just about being paranoid that a bad guy is gonna get them imo. The far more probable problem is that children wake up or get sick during the night and get scared when they realize that the parents are not there, and I don't believe that European toddlers are any different from American ones in that respect.
