Madeleine McCann found?

"This man may or may not be the key to unlocking this investigation, tracing and speaking to him is of vital importance to us…,” Redwood said on Monday. “There will be e-fits released of other sightings as well, who we are equally keen to trace. These people were seen on the day of Madeleine's disappearance and the days leading up to it.”

...may or may not be the key...

Well, I do hope that they find out whether he is the key before publishing his name. I wouldn't want it to be an innocent tourist who is gonna have his whole life ruined because he had the misfortune of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. It was a holiday resort, there are going to be lots of people who were seen on that day and the days leading up to it.

I see so many posters that I admire on this thread! I am on the opposite side of the fence than most of them :).
I don't believe the parents had anything to do with Maddy's disappearance. I don't think they accidentally killed her, or purposefully killed her. I however fault them for leaving the children alone while they, the parents, left their vacation place to eat and drink. IMO

Me too.

Those faces are very British in my opinion. The one on the right actually creeps me out, it's so similar to GM's strong angled features.

:twocents:

Yes, after looking closely at the eyes and nose of the 2nd photo fit I can see something familiar there.

Yes, I've been in my backyard. I used a baby monitor, locked my doors, set the alarms and left the trained guard dog inside.
Never at the neighbors, never shopped.

that's great that you take such precautions, however many generations had to manage without the convenience of baby monitors and alarms.

I'm not saying that it is advisable, just that many parents around the world have done similar over many years, mostly without any issues.

Children have also disappeared from homes while their siblings and parents are sleeping.

IMO this case is a bit like the Azaria Chamberlain case as far as parents being vilified.

Looks like I'm not the only one who sees Gerry McCann in those e-fits. Going to watch Crimewatch later tonight.
Also, if those e-fits are of the man walking towards the beach, the Smith family saw a man walking the same way and were sure later it was Gerry...

How can they be sure it's the same man? Those two e-fits show two totally different men, with extremely different jawlines. Other facial features differ a lot too. If these two witnesses weren't together at the time they saw the man in question it's pretty possible they saw two completely different dudes.

They look very different to me as well. IMO this is another attempt to muddy the case. Sad

I always thought Kate's statement "they've taken our Madeleine" to be a little odd. Idk, it seems like she might have said something like "Madeleine's gone, she's not in her room", or "Madeleine's not in the apartment, I can't find her". The statement she made seems leading or contrived somehow, especially using the word "they". Why "they"? How could she know this?

Am I off base here, or does anyone else see it that way as well? TIA :)

I need clarification. So is this man the same man the smiths saw carrying a child? A German? How do the know he was a German? I've been following this case for such a long time but now I'm so confused :scared:

I just don't understand why they are appealing for witnesses all these years later. Everyone who saw something has probably come forward by now with anything they know, what good will this do? I can't remember vital facts about bloody last week, letalone 6 years ago!

I have zero resepect for Kate, because she didn't even answer police questions to co-oprate in finding her daugher.. For me, this case is so obvious.

For my Central European eye both faces from e-fits look very british. Not German or Dutch.

As I Watched the preview of the crimewatch segment, I couldn't help but think that Kate protests her innocent way too much. And not in a "beaten down by the critics" kind of way, either JMO.

There are two things about this "new report" everyone is talking about that jumped out at me.

1. Time line is wrong. As has been mentioned here, the timeline came from the McCann's. So it seems to me that they are saying the McCann's lied. No surprise to me, but this is the closest SY seems to have come to saying that.

2. Checking cell phone records? Whose records? If they don't have an identity for this mysterious new witness, they can't be checking his records. Surely they must have already checked the McCann's records by now? Curious, IMO.

I was also instantly struck by how much one of those sketches resembles Gerry. Conicidence?

Also confused about the reports of a "stranger" in the area. Um, it is a tourist resort. Wouldn't there be quite a few strangers?

I find this whole thing very odd. Some sort of Red Herring? Perhaps some type of attempt to get to the McCann's with the phone record announcement? And publicly calling them liars without saying the words, because, once again, the timeline came directly from them. They provided it that night so errors cannot be attributed to memory.

All very curious.

Sadly, I believe Madeline is dead and the body disposed of by the parents.
I hope I am wrong.

You just summed up my theory. Detective Amaral was fighting for Maddy's justice but the parents did everything to remove him from the job he had 30 years of experience... A lie detector test for McCann's would break this case open but of course, they refused.

Abductions from the home, during the night when everyone is presumed to be asleep, is a far different elephant than leaving infants and toddlers alone in a foreign country resort room while the parents enjoy themselves outside and away from that room.

So do we have the two different times lines? Can we see them side by side for comparison?
