Was thinking this, Ted. And feeling a bit deflated now after all the time we’ve spent on it, but - is it possible this is pic is a more recent one and CB didn’t live there at the time it was taken? Someone mentioned previously the pic is under copyright of “AFP” - a quick Google search tells me this is most likely Agence France-Presse, like someone previously mentioned. Would they have the right to put their name to it if it was CB’s own pic? Is it possible it’s just from when LE started to investigate him, so it’s all a new owner’s furniture?

I can’t imagine he left the pair of goggles behind when it’s been reported the only evidence left was one single hair? Goggles would be classed as significant evidence. With the crevices on goggles, they’d be impossible to completely clean of DNA bar dipping them in bleach/chlorine, which would react with the rubber straps. He had painted over them too - they could run analysis on the paint. There might be brush fibres left over. They’d have been in his house, in his car, in his pockets etc. Way too risky to leave them behind IMO

Well, we're all predisposed to confirmation bias -
CB had a dog - a dog was seen.
CB is a perv - a whip was seen, black gloves, an air, bed, tongs for beating, and a DT trainer.
CB was a drug dealer - we saw a weed container.
Even, small, doll like creatures, a high chair and baby bottle.

May not even have been when he lived there - who knows!

Like a say, we’re making shapes from clouds, hopefully more news will be released so we can put our minds to more productive tasks!

"Last night the McCanns got a boost when the police case appeared to be undermined by a pensioner who is potentially a key witness. Pamela Fenn, 81, lives above the apartment where Madeleine disappeared and is reported to have told police she heard Madeleine screaming below. But yesterday she broke her silence to say it was "absolute rubbish" she had made any such claims to police. Mrs Fenn said: "I didn't even know that family was in there."

Yes, that does sound rather odd given her statement plus the statement of her niece CT who saw someone closing the gate below. It was reported in the Scottish Sun that CT believes it was CB who was this person who came through the gate. Not sure what the comment under the video is all about then to be honest but it doesn't really make sense given her police statement plus the testimony of her niece.

ETA: perhaps she was just fed up of the intrusion and just wanted the press to go away. She was rather an odd/misunderstood character I think. In KM's book she made reference to her peculiar response when GM informed her that MM had gone missing.

Having been involved in festival work and planning, this one seems very casual and fairly sure it wouldn’t get through standard health and safety checks or risk assessments!! I did notice use of an exercise ball like the one in the photo though!

Regarding Mrs reporting that Madeleine had cried on the May 1. I saw a Portuguese news where Mrs Fenn said she never reported something like that to police. She did not even know the McCanns were there. How is this possible?

"Honestly, I have... I know nothing. I have been here three months, until all this happened. I've never spoken to a journalist, they've written rubbish in newspapers, I've never even uttered a word! I've never (sighs)... it's all rubbish! Please, please, just forget it."

She just didn’t want to get involved IMO the press attention was just too much

Regarding Mrs reporting that Madeleine had cried on the May 1. I saw a Portuguese news where Mrs Fenn said she never reported something like that to police. She did not even know the McCanns were there. How is this possible?

"Honestly, I have... I know nothing. I have been here three months, until all this happened. I've never spoken to a journalist, they've written rubbish in newspapers, I've never even uttered a word! I've never (sighs)... it's all rubbish! Please, please, just forget it."

Any chance she was frightened and had asked her name not be published originally?

Mrs Fenn wasn't at home on May 2. There is a report that Madeleine cried on the May 2, too and that she was visited by a middle-aged couple.
This was reported in the media and is not in police files as it seems to come as a result of SYs later investigation.

Am I right in thinking the elderly rape victims name is in RM's phone contacts?

RM and CB both longish term residents of a place with just 3500 inhabitants. wonder if they ever met?
estate agent has access to houses, gets to look around inside, meets the owners, sometimes even gets keys...
might be a type of contact of interest to a burglar.

I’m not for one second saying parents were involved, but the phrases ‘they’ve taken her’ have always led me to believe they had suspicions dodgy people operated in the area. Which then raises the question of whether CB was operating within a network of likeminded people. I’m sure my first thought in this circumstance would be that my child had woken and tried to find me. I lost my wee boy in a park once, it was awful, but never once did I think plural people had taken him. It was only a few minutes tho, and he was fine just playing in the sand! My immediate thought was that he’d wandered off. I do think the parents may have more knowledge of people in the area than we think, but not that they are involved in her disappearance.
