Hate to bring this up, but after 13 years, what would be left to find (hopefully wrapped in a blanket or zipped in a bag so there’s more chance of usable evidence).

I would like it resolved without doubt, butI sort of hope again that nothing is found. Even if she were murdered, I hate the thought of her being cast in those filthy wells.

I’ve thought about this too, Jen. In a damp environment there would be nothing but her own DNA to be found. But at least her parents would have some sentiment of peace.

ETA - probably the wrong turn of phrase there. Peace doesn’t come into it, they’ll be tortured for the rest of their lives. But at least they’ll be able to lay her to rest. That’s such a massive part of the grieving process that they’re still going through to this day.

I thought PJ said no new evidence emerged from the searches? The 'fundamental evidence' is a reference to evidence the German LE already have, which supported their request for the searches to be done.

i think he's behind the abductions and murders in 1996, 2007 and 2015. if not the ringleader then a loyal soldier more than happy to be involved.
in my opinion the circumstantial evidence means that CB is responsible, or a group, or other individuals acting either alone or in their own smaller groups.

Nothing else really fits. I think that because of this narrative, the investigators arent looking for MM directly herself anymore. They know she is dead and from the sounds of it how she died.

We all need to accept also that whatever the police put into the public will be very calculated and will deliberately aim at achieving some response from people who were/are involved, and witnesses. I believe that the recent call to media was more for that purpose than as a leak or sensation.

To me it all appears to be a systematic investigation that has been going on since 2017 at least, and every titbit the public gets is tactical.

I expect that the police have people in jail and in the 'scene' who have informed, and a bunch of lowlifes are trading charges and trying to cover their own asses with lies and deception. A complex mix of dodgy people lying and also telling the truth. Many of them will be drug users and some of them drug addicts..making credible info difficult to get.

The only irrefutable evidence is, well, you know.

My bet would be that they could charge him already and they havent told him how they know - and they are trying to bring down others by negotiating with CB. From there each lead has to be verified and all of this takes time.

That wee circle thingy, Tim, is there any way you can do it to include the other abductions/murders that have been put to him?? It could come in very handy to see if there’s any pattern.

ETA - agree with you on LE releasing info tactically now. I think the rest of the world has come to terms with what has happened to her, but as parents the MCs will never rest until they have confirmation and will always hold out hope that she’s out there somewhere, being looked after.
She just needs to be found and laid to rest so that she can have peace and her family can get answers. Hopefully.

I'm actually stunned that she is supposed to be percieved as a journalist with integrity, she is completely uncredible, reporting on her "hunches" and once again sensationally announcing "new info to follow this week". After GA and SF, is it too much to ask for just ONE good detective and ONE good reporter on this case?

NF does not have "Germanic" features. IMO she looks more Slavic. (It's just my impression.)

The girl that disappeared from Foral was Russian/German, she had Ucranian friends, went to live with her Romanian boyfriend etc, etc, etc.

CB was living in Braunschweig in a Slavic neighbourhood...
His young ex-gf was Albanian/German.

So now that it’s clear she wasn’t fed to pigs, I’m thinking of how the press zoned in on those witness accounts, grasping at straws. More convinced now than ever that the tabloids have next to nothing to go on and the German police have a fair amount they’re holding back (good!)

Just reading Guardian article from 2014 excavation of scrubland actioned by Portuguese police on the request of Scotland Yard.

Do we know if the Portugese police need reassurances of proof to action requests like these, or is there a change they’ve allowed the searching of the wells based on very little?

I was hoping it’s a sign that they have proof but now I’m not so sure.
