I wonder why they removed it?!
I can’t find reference to this latest info anywhere online anymore. Maybe shouldn’t have been released in MSN?

Oh that's strange, maybe the GF did not want it reported in Media that she is standing as a witness against him ? if she is standing then the court/LE would keep her name out of media maybe? I was a witness in a large case years ago, and I was told not to speak about it to anyone, and deff not the media! A year before the trial started.

Sounds like it was a ‘friend’ of hers who spoke to the press

If she is standing as witness is it likely that she knows something about CB to do with MM?

ETA

The article mentioned

Detective told the British ex that she would be a "key witness" if he were ever tried for the crime.

And also

The friend added, “She was really upset, but they reassured her and said she was an important character witness. They told her not to worry about him being released.

So all options open I guess

Yes, it was a friend that spoke to the press. I still think the mystery Star article was referring to one of the 2 interviews that xyz had already given LE, spiced up with a few extra details.
It would be strange the German LE have only just recently been 'allowed' as the article put it, to investigate the case in Portugal.

The police spoke with the ex from CB.
That took 12 hours!
And about that she complained to her girlfriend.

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed>

One of CBs apparent victims, Hazel, was told by the police it would affect tourism when she reported that she got raped.
Police experience corruption, look at the Joana Cipriano case for example.

Yes - so that is interesting as German LE cannot operate in Portugal without permission.

Of course German LE may operate freely in any country. North Korea including. Portugal is the sole exception.

Anyone hear anything on the final decision from the EJU?

TIA! ;)

They have no lawful jurisdiction in other countries

Yeah in tabloid parlance "friend' usually just means that the source is unattributed

The same article appeared in the Mirror yesterday. Credited to the same author of the Star article.

Madeleine McCann suspect's Brit ex grilled by cops in 'gruelling' 12 hour ordeal

Also a rehash from The Sun from a different author, including this detail;

The interview last month reportedly was the first time German cops have been allowed to work the case in Portugal.

Madeleine McCann suspect's Brit ex quizzed for 12 hours by German cops

I think reportedly is the keyword here. Unless the 2 times that she has already been interviewed were by UK and/or Portuguese LE.

So it seems it was in fact Portuguese LE that previously interviewed her 3 times.

The Portuguese police have spoken to me three times in the past year, but never once did they say it was about Madeleine.

“They said it was about him, they were investigating him because they had found out he had raped an old lady in Luz in 2005.

“They wanted to know all about him. But I had no idea it was to do with Madeleine also.

Yeah this is all based off the original Mirror exclusive.

So looks like the german police interviewed her in August - if we trust the sourcing. It seems relatively specific.

"friend" in UK tabloid parlance can include a wide range of possibilities. Mainly it just means that it isn't attributed to her, but basically is coming from her.

Apparently the previous interviews were regarding the rape of the 72 year old woman, the most recent one being in regards to MM.
