The Germans are still on the case, making what sounds like maybe good progress on possible other crimes their prime suspect may have committed, but not so much on the crime this thread is concerned with.

The constant, if there is one, is that they - courtesy of HCW- say, despite their progress, they're still not sure if they'll ever have enough evidence - or the right type of evidence - to actually charge their prime suspect with MM's disappearance.

JMO of course. Others may well have more optimistic updates.

No, from what I understand they are referring to SM's former British business partner MF, Rebecca was his GF before becoming JJM's girlfriend.
MF met a new lady (KH) after Rebecca and that was when the SM/MF business relationship started to crumble. MF apparently ended up marrying KH

Exactly - pure nonsense.

It is obviously the case that on the ground active investigation requires the permission of and collaboration with PJ. So obviously, given the political sensitivity of the case, that is bound to require sharing some info as to the direction and nature of inquiry.

And if the germans really do want to get on the ground, they are unlikely to brief the Sun first

I simply do not believe that OG, knowing that BKA confidently claim to know what happened to the child (and who did it, and even how), have just sat back and not requested BKA to share that concrete evidence. That would be ridiculous IMO.
The real situation IMO must surely be that BKA are actually sharing with OG, IMO.

While the intruder was climbing in bedroom window, what if the child ran and climbed on back of sofa to attract attention of adult outside? It would be possible to fall between sofa back and wall and trap chin in such a way as to produce fatal result? Found a case of that happening (last part only). What would the intruder do then?

The phrase "single piece" is rather interesting because it appears to match what HCW says: there is one piece of concrete evidence which determines simultaneously not only the exact category of crime which occurred, but also who did it (source: aussie podcast HCW interview). So that one piece of evidence is IMO what is "not necessarily" being shared to OG.

In the Pismak case, the bathing suits haven't been children clothes, but for adults. But yes, the crime is assumed to be linked to a person with possible transvestite-inclination. Maybe not far from a tow-ball enthusiast. I've seen videos of guys doing that practice in clothes for females. Skirts etc..

That SM/RM/horrible job that changes lives - thing still keeps odd to me.

I know, i can't talk for others, but if i had been accused of a horrible crime, had been ruled out officially and maybe got money for a false accusation, i would put a line under it and keep on living my life under the radar.

But others seem to be keen on putting their heads in front of a camera years after, maybe for money?!

Although i do not know RM and SM in person, they still make unpleasent feelings to my stomach. Just call it intuition...

Ok, I can probably easily debunk this theory that it might be MM's head of hair. If it had been placed there, wouldn't it be dirty / greasy / tangled?? I believe its a weird wheel well interior that we're seeing thanks to the light.

If these are tips from British holiday makers but German LE need to follow up "on the ground" in Portugal, I wonder what it relates to? Properties? Residents?

Holiday photos, maybe? For instance a tourist might have found CB's camper van on one of their snaps & contacted the police about it, adding info on where/when the photo was taken. German LE might then be interested in visiting the location to speak to locals, eg current residents/owners of a building it was parked outside.

Just a guess, but that is the sort of material German LE were asking for.

Yes, I think it's likely she was ambushed. Been reading the statements from her parents and the Tapas folk and they nearly all asserted that MM wouldn't have gone off with a stranger and a few said she would would have protested and screamed. I think if she was scared or afraid on previous nights, the sudden appearance of a strange man in the apartment would be terrifying.

Or the sudden appearance of a 'friendly adult' could have been reassuring. She hadn't even got to 4 - she had probably never been in a situation where going off with a stranger was a possibility. She was on holiday so wouldn't have her normal babysitters. And she was going to kids club so not her normal day care providers.

I'd say my kids wouldn't go off with strangers but one got lost in a museum - I thought she was with her dad, he thought she was with me. She tearfully went with a stranger to reception and then another stranger around looking for us. I've taken a child that's got lost to a security guard. I bet all their parents - me included - would say they wouldn't go off with strangers. But they were upset and needed adults

I think if she'd run off or been scared she'd have taken her cat.

If she'd been older maybe but why wouldn't she trust CB?

I guess we can only speculate. Lost children will often trust someone helping them find their parents. She may have had the stranger danger talk, and yet paedophiles are frequently gifted at talking down a child's defenses. The Big Bad Wolf indeed.

But I still don't think he talked her out of the apartment. I'm still leaning towards the harmed in situ and removed theory for all the reasons mooted upthread.

I wonder if we will ever know the truth of exactly how she left 5a, even if she is eventually found or CB brought to trial.

Guess it’s possible CB had a pic of parents on his phone..then showed to MM when woke up to reduce startle effect/gain trust.Perhaps saying “Hi I’m ‘X’ ..is this your parents? I work here..they asked me to check on you”..or ..”they’re stuck somewhere..I’ve to take you to them”...Then whatever ensued..
Just speculation..horrible to imagine..poor girl..
