I quote: "Addressing Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, he (HCW) said: “We are confident we have the man who took and killed your daughter.

“All I can do is ask for your patience. I think a conclusion will be reached next year. We have no body and no DNA but we have other evidence. Based on the evidence we have, it leads to no other conclusion.

“I can’t tell you on which basis we assume she is dead. But for us, there’s no other possibility. There is no hope she is alive.”

Is that enough? That they suspect him of abduction and murder? For me it is.

Took her where from though, not one mention of the apartment which is a point peanut.jelly makes.

Why are they briefing the press if these charges haven't been laid at CB's door ? meaning they haven't even questioned him .
No they haven't questioned him, they are getting all the evidence together first, which is normal procedure, plus it's more than 1 crime he is being investigated for, so I suppose starting with the easiest, maybe you could read up on how the German prosecution works in general

Again, if you have a link to the so called 'wind expert' please post it and at least back up your 'facts' otherwise it's just your opinion, at least I tried to find evidence, which is better than hearsay.
I’ve been to Faro and then drove to PdL. The wind difference was marked.

People forget that the German prosecutors speak in legalisms . They accuse CB of things they think they can prove in court of law. So while it might be self-evident he kidnapped MM and killed her, they only accuse him of murder. I believe - they believe he kidnapped her too but as that case is much weaker, they stick with murder only.

Does it include press briefings about cases he will be charged in with out laying charges , or is it speculation by the Olive press.

It may be worth you reading through some of the previous threads, or some general info about CB on Google or something, I don't want to repeat alot of stuff that's previously been mentioned on here already, not just olive Press stuff

I've read enough over the years to know its all rubbish, Wolters was recently quoted back in October that all they had was circumstantial, no forensics , no body, he cannot charge CB on that alone imo, you're telling me to familiarise myself with German law, how many cases are there in Germany with convictions with out a body ?

If you read enough over the years and all of it is rubbish in your opinion, then please stop asking and wasting your and other peoples time. Thank you!

It matters not, but the media didn't just pluck his name out of fresh air.
It'll be interesting to see what the new year brings, more details in the press no doubt but nothing of substance about how CB is supposed to have committed a crime against Madeleine.

^ Quite. HCW knew it was only a matter of days, if not actual hours, before the suspect would be identified. He knew exactly what he was doing and everything that has transpired subsequently backs that up. Claims that he didn't name the suspect is just playing with semantics. He needed CB's name out there because, in his very own words, his investigation needed and continues to this day to need input from the public in order for him to confidently take this case before a judge.

Will it actually ever happen? I have my doubts.

So, no public appeals around the world anymore, because the possible suspect could be identified within hours?

Where is the problem? What's the point?

I do not understand this discussion. If the prosecutors can't prove his guilt in the MM case, FF will bring an action against a person or germany and another judge is going to rule out, if CB get's some money.

By the way, a convicted sadistic paedo and rapist!

Never happened all over the world before, right? Come on people, what's the deal?

The more i read all of this like a mantra, the more i think that CB's legal and "public relations" team is represented in here...

I am merely pointing out that HCW all but named CB as his prime suspect from the absolute get-go. The suggestion that he didn't is ludicrous and I don't understand why you continue to deny he did this, instead trying to lay the blame for CB's identity becoming public at the feet of the tabloids?

There isn't one, that's the point. <modsnip>
HCW clearly did what he needed to do in order to put skin on the bones of his and the BKA's belief that CB is responsible for the murder of MM.

Yes, he did! Prosecutors do that! I do not have a single problem with it.

Oh no, please don't misunderstand me. I'm far away of taking any offence! Why should i do?

27 and not one shred of evidence to suggest he abducted or killed Madeleine, you call that an achievement.
I don't really care who is responsible, but just like when the evidence against the McCann's was scrutinised to the nth degree then so must that against CB, which is very little in this case as was against the McCann's, much like when SY had the three locals down has the ones in 2014, it'll peter out to nothing then what will you do.

Surprise, surprise.....the Mc's! Again...

They were suspects, just as Murat was, just as the three locals were in 2014 just as CB is, the issue being ? the link that binds them all, lack of evidence.

Lack of evidence? LE have basically said they have proof without a doubt that MM is passed and it's likely on video.

They have evidence, the public just hasn't been privilege to it yet. JMO

Well, it's absolutely justified to post your opinion in here. No problem.

But again, i will never ever follow any opinion, that points any possible responsibility for Maddies disappearance to the parents.

You have to know, new members with this opinion come and go in here! They were, they are, and they ever will be!

So, no big deal!

Interestingly, I found the below about the role of the defence lawyer in Germany

"Q13. What is the role of my lawyer? Will s/he investigate the case?
Your lawyer will provide you with legal advice and represent you in court, based on the evidence gathered
by the prosecution and given by any witnesses that are called. S/he can also request that the prosecution
conducts further investigations and/or that the court calls witnesses or gathers specific evidence, but this will
be at the discretion of the court"

This appears to mean that all these claims of FF and the potential witnesses he could get could be dismissed if the case reaches the court?
