Anyone know if this is making news in Portugal? Not a huge amount of use asking the UK and Germany about where he lived when in Portugal

Here's one. https://www.sabado.pt/portugal/detalhe/20200605-1908-maddie-policia-britanica-desvalorizou-suspeito-alemao-em-2012-quando-pj-entregou-processo

also one about one of the houses he stayed in;

EXCLUSIVE: Footage of property where paedophile and suspect Christian Brueckner lived in the months after Madeleine McCann disappeared from Portugal - Olive Press News Spain

"British police received in 2012 elements of the Judiciary Police file on the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. They contained Christian Brueckner.
In 2012, the British police received elements of the Judiciary Police file on the disappearance of Madeleine McCann in which there were hundreds of people, including the German now announced as a suspect, to whom he did not attach importance.

At least since 2012, when Operation Orange started, the English police received from the Judiciary Police all the elements that were in our process regarding the case of the child's disappearance. If Christian Bruckner was there, how were hundreds of people there and if If the suspicions about that person were so evident, he would have been the target of diligences requested by the English, and which have always been authorized in Portugal, but they never asked, "said the deputy director of the Judiciary Police today to the Lusa agency.''

I know I probably sound somewhat cold when I post about things like filming the torture, the reason why I am and have to be when I follow cases - I have to emotionally distance myself or I couldn't even follow them or post in the threads. There are times every time though after getting into the case or the discussion very deeply for a couple of days where the wall crumbles down and I can't keep cool anymore. And it either shows in my posts or I have to stop posting and maybe even reading the discussion for a couple of hours or days.

Just mentioning again what I mentioned in my previous post now makes me really angry and upset and I hope they get him. Even if he didn't do anything to Maddie, he did so many horrible things that he was convicted for that I hope they find more and can keep him locked up forever. He is a very dangerous animal.
Totally agree with you Miya, and thanks for putting it so well.
I think becoming robotic would be an obvious state to try to get into when investigating horrors such as this. Not something though, I imagine that you could sustain for a long period of time.
Here on WS's we're only barely skimming the surface but I'm not sure what my limit is with this!
I have the utmost admiration and gratitude for all officials who have the unenviable task of investigating and solving crimes such as this.

Keep in mind, the police don’t tell the public everything they know. They give bare minimum to get back what they need and that’s it.

Considering how much they've shared in this particular matter thus far, they must have an awful lot then!

Very recognizable. Thank you for explaining. Time and time again I want to stay out of the speculation, stick to the facts, stay out of the emotional impact, just give good information. Like you I'm not cold at all, the opposite is true.

One of the reasons why I follow crimes is that I was victimized several times in my life and I always feel for the victims. But that's also the reason why I have to emotionally distance myself.

And this guy is one of the worst out there, I really can't see him as a human being and I know a lot about psychopaths and how their brains are different which turns them into something that looks human but has no human traits at all. He definitely committed more crimes than the ones he was convicted for in my opinion, and even those should be enough, but then there is German law. I hope they can solve at least a few more and realize how dangerous he is and keep him in preventive custody for life after his prison sentence. If he ever gets out again, he will never stop, he can't, his twisted brain wouldn't let him even if he wanted to (not that I think he wants to change though).

Just pondering on the skype conversation. How did the police get a hold on it. Could it be intentionally "leeked" to throw the police of the Madison case? Or is this farfetched?

Or... did someone turn it in, hoping for a reduced sentence...?
Or... was someone who was part of that chat an undercover cop?

We assume it was between two people, but that may not be the case. This could have had a few participants....

GERMANY'S Justice Minister Claus Christian Claussen and members of the Flensburg public prosecutor's office are due to address parliament today about possible misconduct in the Christian B case, it is reported.

They will speak from 2 p.m. on Wednesday before the interior and legal committee of the state parliament, Bild reports.

According to Bild "the subject of the statement is the behaviour of the Flensburg public prosecutor's office in connection with the multiple convicted Christian B".

Christian B is believed to have lodged papers to secure his release on parole last Friday, with an official hearing in Flensburg District Court at a later date.

No, the conversation definitely was about a child. Including how he would film every detail of her torture.
Could anyone provide a link to a transcript in German of this conversation?

I think undercover cop is always a possiblity. A couple of pages back I also posted about the Georgine Krüger case and how they got an undercover cop to befriend the suspect (in real life though, not on the internet) and he confessed to him. Where I was considering the possiblity that CB's bar confession could have been to an undercover cop as well. Not saying that's what happened, but it has been done before.

I think it's a default to assume that it was a 'cosy' chat between two friends in a pub.
I highly doubt that was the situation, in fact an undercover job sounds more feasible. IMO

I know...the "or's" could be numerous...

Yes I get what's happening but my point is people are insisting they have hard evidence on this guy - They don't or they would have charged him.
I don't think they have a video of a killing either as Scotland Yard and Portugal are still saying it's a missing person inquiry. The forces share information so they would have seen the video too and declared it murder also.

Interesting point - I hadn't considered that perhaps they haven't changed their view yet as perhaps they haven't seen whatever the evidence is.

If there is a video, could they release it to other law enforcement agencies or might that be a violation of German Law? At this point, they don't want to charge him because the second they do, CB is entitled to review (or have his lawyer review?) the file and might come up with things to refute whatever they have at this point on him. Maybe they're not showing other agencies in order to block his ability to come up with things to refute what they already have?

Another possibility: perhaps police became aware of the conversation while executing a search warrant of someone else's electronic devices / online activities? Police haven't said how they got the chat information - that would be interesting to know! Maybe they're protecting a UC's cover? The possibilities seem endless....

I've seen a few translations into English, but not a transcript in the original German.
