I guess I’m questioning , why would CB go to all that trouble of burying or attempting to burn his stash at the box factory, only to leave, MM’s pyjamas in the van that he ‘sold’ to BP in 2015? Especially after being interviewed in 2013.
Doesn’t make sense.

As SF put it: something belonging to Madeleine.
If true, it could be anything.

No sense at all. After C Greek’s post earlier about the fibres, it seems that it would need to be the full pyjama tops or bottoms or a sizeable fragment and that they have been in the van for 15 years … and only found fairly recently even though the van has been with LE for several years.

The only thing I can think of is that CB had some sort of stash in the built-in camp furniture in the van, like under a drawer or something but leaving the pyjamas in it and selling the van just seems almost impossible to believe.

Could even be a small button that remained undetected all these years.
Who knows.

There was no button in the pj set MM was wearing... something else...

"In response to a specific question, which referred to any traces from one of the accused's vehicles, but there was no mention of traces of fiber, I said that I would not say anything about it. I didn't deny it either, I simply stated that we didn't want to say anything about it."

As supposed!

Staatsanwalt zum Fall Maddie – keine Faserspuren in Bus von Christian B. gefunden

This is very telling imo. I think the PJ had the van all these years and only now with the change of head of the investigation, they did a forensic analysis... and they must have found something that the BKA need to corroborate first before saying anything about forensic evidence. SF's sources are definitely in the PJ. Much easier to leak something in portugal than in Germany it appears...this would also explain the rush of PJ officers going to Germany and the change in tone of the McC's. They all know something we are not privy about and this is how it should be. Jmo

'The whole story about the traces of fibres is total nonsense,' Wolters said.

'In the interview I said that we have found new evidence in the last two years. However, there was nothing [that proves Brueckner's innocence] among them.

'Everything we have found confirms to us our working theory that we are not going in a senseless direction.

'We are happy the suspect is the man responsible and will continue working in this direction. Nothing we have found so far suggests he is not the man responsible.

'I cannot say anything about the further investigations results and individual pieces of evidence at the moment.

'I was asked if we had found evidence of something of Madeleine McCann in the suspect's van and I replied that I could not speak about the investigation, that's all

We have found no fibres and I can tell you the new evidence we have is not forensic evidence but I'm not allowed to give you any further details.

'We remain convinced that the suspect in prison is the person responsible for the crime. There is no alibi. The suspect did not give us an alibi and we did not find an alibi during our investigations.'

'News on the other cases, aside from Maddie, is expected to be available in early June.'

Not in front, but on the back side and just under the neck it must have had some buttons.

I agree with this and it perhaps signals that the BKA do have everything they need to charge. The Germans have run a controlled investigation. It might not be ideal, and I share everyone else’s concerns with HCW’s media strategy but from the German side, he has been the sole mouthpiece. It looks like they have now shared info with the PJ and within five minutes a gutter journalist knows key pieces of evidence … and she is very confident about what she knows. I think the BKA knew with certainty this would happen so the fact that they have shared info is really telling. JMO.
I completely agree. I’ve always considered the German’s very strategic & measured. HCW helps sell tabloid headlines, but are his interviews of any benefit to their investigation?

If the press interaction is strategical, then perhaps it’s cat & mouse stuff. I do think these headlines will rattle CB. Probably an angry ‘rattle’ because he has no control. When he reads the stories that they’ve found something in his van then he’ll be on high (angry) alert, IF he used the van during the crime!

If true, I think his next moaning letter might be about them ‘planting fibres’ in his van. If he comes back with a letter like that he’ll have fallen for a clever BKA trap

That would definitely be forensic evidence carrying DNA... an 'item' / traces / 'vestigios' belonging to MM (if SF's source is to be trusted) without carrying forensic value (if HCW was honest- but maybe he wanted it first corroborated by German labs??) is very difficult to identify... there are many things at play here. I hope we will find out soon once the PJ have travelled to germany, if that report is accurate...

First round has be begun! *DING*

"The spokesman for the Braunschweig public prosecutor told the F.A.Z. on Thursday that the investigations have been completed and that Christian B.'s lawyer will be granted access to the files for the first time "in the next few days".

The public prosecutor's office does not want to officially inform about their further action until the end of May at the earliest. But investigators' current moves point to an indictment, not a dismissal. The question is how many allegations will be brought to justice."

Which investigations though?
Wolters did say they were going to go with the more minor charges first

Just to clarify that this refers to his other presumed offences and not MM

I would say MM will be the final round and the article indicates, the MM case will follow later. But at least we learned over the last days, that so many articles from the last days, weeks or months didn't turn out as trustworthy.

But F.A.Z is a big serious german newspaper. So we'll see...

Going back to my post with the description of the pjs: indeed there were buttons in the motif
