The depressing thing is the different reasons different people have for wanting Herr Wolters to be wrong. Those who support the McCanns would love to see Madeleine found, alive and well, and reunited with her mum, dad, siblings and extended family, where she deserves to be.

The rest want to see Kate and Gerry stitched up for the crimes of (seemingly) Brueckner against Madeleine, compounding (their!) grief with blame and even incarceration. I don't suppose they would much care whether it was an English, Portuguese or German jail, just so long as they are jailed.

IMO, it’s because both have behaved and said things that raise suspicion.

Until HCW can prove BARD that CB is guilty, he is no more responsible for what happened to MM than the McCanns or anyone else for that matter.

I think it’s almost certain MM is deceased. I don’t care who is right or who is wrong, I would just like to see justice for her.

Here in the uk back in August a 9 yr old girl was shot dead in her own home, following a police investigation a file was handed to the CPS who in a press conference announced they had authorised Merseyside police to charge a man with her murder, in this conference the CPS reminds all that criminal proceedings are now active into the man and that he his entitled to a fair trial and that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online that should prejudice the proceedings .I know CB hasn't even been questioned but could the BKA guarantee from what is known a fair trial should it get that far.

Indeed Madeleine is the forgotten in all of this, sadly she was dead before the world knew her name imo.
But blaming dogs, handlers, initial police investigation, subsequent ones, libel ? trial, ECHR verdicts, etc have all lost the victim in this, imo they have all done a disservice to her.

Germany has no jury.....if HCW has the evidence he claims then that's what's important.

In Germany, trials are both conducted, and their outcomes determined, by judges sitting alone. I would be amazed if German criminal-court judges, like English judges of seniority above Magistrate's level, are not considered sufficiently rigorous and impartial not to allow their judgements to be influenced by pre-trial publicity.

The whole 'pre-trial publicity influencing the outcome of a trial' thing is a red-herring, at least in Germany.

ETA: The other point is that the same people who have queued up to accuse the McCanns have pretty much been the first to spring to the defence of Brueckner. I excuse his lawyer. That's his job. What excuse does everyone else have?

If MM was abducted, I’m sure this haunts the McCanns. It would be emotional torture and I feel deeply sorry for them if this is the case.

I think it says something about, ahem, askew priorities that as the prospect of the McCanns being directly blamed (at least by anyone who matters) for harm to Madeleine, or responsibility for her disappearance, recedes and as the prospect looms that something unspeakable and evil befell Madeleine at the hands of someone known and identified, the reflex response of perennial McCann-accusers, is to harp back to the whole 'neglect' canard.

Grime testified that, after the vehicle screening, he took the dogs to an administrative building to screen the items removed from Dungey's car. Grime did not know where the objects were located in the building, and the objects had been placed in a room filled with “all sorts of things.” Morse alerted Grime to the odor of decomposition in Bianca's car seat and a bag containing Bianca's blanket. Grime later took the dogs to Dungey's house. Morse alerted him to the odor of decomposition in a room that contained bunk beds and a closet without a door.

First, note a crucial difference in Grime's follow-up cadaver dog to Eddie, Morse. Morse, unlike Eddie, was not trained to react to the scent of human blood. It was always the weakness of the Eddie-and-Keela combination that he had two dogs both trained to react to the same scent, human blood.

The weakness of the Keela-and-Morse combination is that, at least in England, Grime wouldn't have been able to use Morse, because uncorroborated cadaver-dog alerts are inadmissible as evidence in English courts. I think that is (mostly) true in America as well. But the forensic canine programme seemed to operate under different rules.

Either but for Grime, or if Grime had deployed his dogs responsibly and strictly where Mark Harrison told him to, the McCanns would almost certainly never have been declared arguido/a in the shelved investigation.

Or, at any rate, the pair of bent cops at the head of the Portuguese arm of the investigation would have had to contrive some very different excuse for declaring them arguido/a.

Why should that be forgotten?

We know that at PdL, Eddie reacted accurately to Gerry's blood on the ignition key of the Renault Scenic.

What if there had been similar, and equally innocent, deposits of blood in any of the other vehicles?
