Brit police still have plenty of modern skeletons in the closet though don't they? Hardly a week goes by without a fresh round of shame and scandal emerging. I wouldn't dream of calling them all corrupt though, and neither are the Portuguese.

The Met is rocked by scandal at the moment. The prospect of root and branch reform is on the table for them.

MWT says the search is ‘very speculative’.

He would, his source is FF. He also says Pistorius is innocent and bases he knows more than everyone else on the matter because of his extensive sources... his extensive sources being... Pistorius.

It's reports like this which kind of concern me. I do wonder how much appetite the people tasked with this search actually have? That 2 day limit just seems like this might be an act of reluctance vs appeasement on part of the PJ...

The Portuguese police will carry out a search on Tuesday (23) in a dam where the body of Madeleine McCann , an English girl who was 3 years old when she disappeared, in 2007, during vacation in the country, may be.

The Portuguese police had not done anything to try to investigate the case for years. This operation, in fact, only happens under pressure from German authorities.

A spokesman for the fire department said the search should begin at a dam in the Algarve region, about 50 kilometers away from the resort where Madeleine's family was vacationing when the girl disappeared.

Two tents were erected near the dam this Monday, in the city of Silves.

Despite being preparing for the operation, the Portuguese authorities say, on condition of anonymity, that they have no hope of finding Madeleine's body. A person linked to the investigations in Portugal who asked not to be identified told Reuters that the search will lead to nothing.

For sure, and there are corrupt elements in all police forces and in all countries. The Met has a huge problem with infiltration by organised crime syndicates.

I can’t pretend to know much about Portugal but it is the 5th most corrupt country in the world. Their former PM (Socrates) has been indicted on charges of corruption & money laundering. One of their Bank heads was bribing him. The OECD are on their case to enact anti-corruption laws. 2 PJ top brass were recently charged, (one convicted) with corruption by a Colombian drug cartel.

With respect to this case, we had the head of the Missing People Agency, author of Madeleine’s Star, friend of Amaral - Paolo Pereira Cristavao - convicted of kidnapping and orchestrating robberies.

The PJ Case files
"
Today, at about 15.47, when I was on duty at the Santo António squad, I received a phone call from a male individual with a British accent who preferred to remain anonymous and who told me the following:

Yesterday at 21.00, to the south of the Beliche – Castro Marim dam, he saw a male individual, about 1.75m in height, wearing dark blue jeans and a dark t-shirt, accompanied by a girl aged about 3 years, with blond hair, wearing light coloured clothes and who were heading in a northern direction along the bushes, before he lost sight"

Is this same place?

One reason it might only be 2 days is budget. Someone has to pay for all this.

In the necrosearch book, one reason searches don’t happen even with half decent intel is someone has to approve the spend from their budget so they tend to want someone else to pay or the chances of success to be high.

Every part of this case breaks my heart. Those precious, doleful eyes....

It remains possible that M was not abducted or led violently -- the promise to bring her to or back to her parents would secure all the trust he needed. Harrowing.

It cannot be denied that the GA team who worked MM's case had their fair share of corrupt officers - (proven torturer, proven perjurer) all aided and abetted by former colleague, journalist and author specialising in writing bools on missing children who later progressed to bigger and better things.

The tip comes via a lawyer, Marcos Teixeira da Fonte Aragao Correia, whose client is an underworld figure, who ‘knew exactly what happened to Maddie’ (JC)

No.

Unless they have got something very specific in mind to search, a two day limit just doesn't really make any sense. No serious search of the area could take place in that limited amount of time, even if just searching the immediate banks.

Re the search of the reservoir, last throw of the dice by the Germans,? clearly they can't advance the case with out a bo

Body or parts of will be very difficult after all these years, but other "minor" pieces of evidence?! Maybe...."forensic fillets"...by CB.

That argument is exactly where CB stands.
Not quite. MM's parents were innocent victims of crime with no criminal record of any kind. They went through the process and it was proven there was not a shred of evidence justifying police suspicion.
CB is a career criminal, convicted rapist and child molester. He has not yet gone through the process of being eliminated from police suspicion and inquiry.

The situations are totally different.

By now, the good news is Portuguese/German/British authorities working together.
This is maybe the real major point. Hope so.

I don't know, one day the penny might drop that GA may never have published his book if he hadn't been attacked by British tabloids, the Spanish mob known as Metodo, and the likes of Correia etc. And there are those still attacking him, so he defends himself. And so it goes on and on and on.

Look at HCW in his suit jacket, tie and jeans, how adorable!
It's an old trick if one is being interviewed with only the upper body visible on camera - maybe the photographer wasn't aware of it :)
