I think you need to make some allowances for the fact that English is not his mother tongue, not to mention the fact that the media is not always brilliant at reporting exactly what someone had said. I think he’s doing a reasonable job telling us as much as he is able to. He seems competent, earnest and intelligent to me.

I do agree there is some cultural aspect to it. The English are the masters of taking a long time to say nothing in eloquent terms - as often noted in German circles

I find, when speaking his native German, HCW is very much a typical bureaucrat, and his latest televised briefings were pretty much what you would expect. i also agree with the german media he has quite an earnest demeanour.

Yes, dogs will generally either be trained and conditioned to pick up on a specific scents or to track a scent they are given to trace. In this instance, you'd think it would have to be the former. Remains would be a good shout but dogs can be trained to pick up on all sorts of things including media devices etc too.

Yep, they may have had both types of sniffer dogs.

It could be that simple!!!

The prosecutors just may have the need to link material that's already known to CB himself, to avoid the possible strategy, he could say that he just downloaded that vile crap from the darkweb.

By the way, that strategy used to work well for "masked man" Martin N. in the past.

I found this a lot when using translation apps for Portuguese articles too. I would read quotes and the language used just seemed a bit strange, and the train of though illogical to me, until I realised it is just their way of saying things, in contrast to how we would communicate the same message across. It's the same when a foreign speaker tries to communicate in another language too, as many of those "ways" of speaking remain when trying to get their point across.

I've read the same articles translated by a proper Portuguese speaker and they adjust for the cultural/language barrier and it makes a lot more sense then. I can follow the logic of the conversation while recognising it is just a different way of communicating a point across to what I'm used to seeing in English. Sometimes things can appear to come across as abrupt or be seen as not the 'proper' thing to say in British culture when they are not meant that way.
