I'm not his greatest fan but the man's still standing, you've got to give him that. The obsession with him is quite something to behold.
'Still standing"... what does that even mean? Still alive? Not in prison? Seems a bizarre thing to give him "credit" for irrespective of all the things he's said and done.

I am wondering how they could say they didn't find any forensics after just a week of researching the samples they collected?? These things take much more time imo. That is why I am a bit afraid they didn't find what they were looking for , such as more usb sticks or similar..or even pieces of garments...
So, nothing relevant. Again, IMO unless they "work" to get a confession or will they be searching and searching "in a vacuum"...along the next years?!

And the BKA just let this all happen do they? Give over. They'd be arresting folk.
On what basis? Gossip? Behave. Media leaks happen every day, it's the nature of the beast.

Remember, they dug up the allottment in Hannover for a few days and said nothing tangible about possible results. Why should they do that now?

I suggest, that finding MM's body would have been spectacular enough to know, that they can't keep it under the carpet. So they would report it. It wouldn't jeopardise the investigation at all. So IMO they didn't find her. Or kind of a body, or parts of a body in general.

Telling the media better to not expect any spectacular statements means nothing else than doing it like they did it in the past.

"Were not going to tell you what we have against the suspect."

That's all IMO. But we'll see....
Last week's search is nearly three years after the Hannover one? It's a long time. They've got to be feeling some pressure.

Leaks to media Ok, but it was suggested earlier leaks were being made to CB's lawyers. Not Ok I'd have thought.

Wolters has made the opinion of the Germans very clear.100,% sure that CB murdered Maddie and that he was on the phone for 30 mins near the OC
Significantly no one has come forward to contradict either statement...neither the person he was on the phone with that night nor anymore who was with him that night

Any person who has a story to support CBs innocence would be paid a fortune ...but no one has come forward

The same person who suggested RM was the abductor, and 2-3 bodies would be found in the lake?

Honestly I feel much of the coverage of this case verges on fanfic
That may be true, but if you've delged into JC's previous writings, it's pretty clear that he thinks CB is involved in other cases, including Joana Cipriano. I'm not defending that position, just explaining where his claims/theories are originating from. And probably where his theory about finding multiple bodies came from. It's nothing to do with police intel IMO, he's just (poorly) speculating about what they might find there because he sees this as a significant move. JMO.

This isn't the only missing child case that got personal. Very personal. That's all I mean. Self-inflicted or not (much of it anyway) he's survived it, and I doubt I would.

He's survived it so far......

BIB. Are there any examples of where this strategy has ever worked to get someone to confess a murder?

I've generally only heard of it in terms of cooperation agreements (US), or people who plead guilty

Are there people who confess to a murder they've not been charged with?
It is my opinion that may eventually crack him & he’ll confess to everything. IMO it’ll come to a point where CB has no hope or opportunity. At that point they may offer him a better prison if he tells them what happened & directs them where he hid the remains.

IMO this won’t happen before any legal proceedings unless he’s given a full life term for the other offences & all appeals have failed. But I think it’s more likely it’ll happen months if not years after he’s convicted of Madeleine’s murder. I think she’ll eventually be found, but I don’t think it’ll be until CB is in for life.

Joana C's case...yes, some suspicious details and also under GA's tenure...

I think a lot of true crime content is produced simply because there is demand for it.

Think of all the worthless articles in the last week that say basically nothing. We could have just watched HCWs presser, and checked the BBC and we'd know just as much.

^ It pays the bills, I guess. Certainly for the handful of journos who've been there from the off and have since forged a living as self-appointed authorities on all things MM.

Excellent as always. Again, my opinion too. Just the last sentence, I was intrigued, do you really think her remains will ever be found even more years from now?
''The child is dead now and that's it''. ''You can make a corpse disappear quickly!"
Dispose and/or make disappear?...

^ I don't think that has ever been confirmed as fact. Facts are important.

And there are countless entirely logical, practical and credible reasons why people may not have come forward, detailed in depth on earlier threads.

For general info going forward, just had a mod message re approved sources, confirming that The Mirror (daily and Sunday) is an approved source.

The Sun is not.

MOD NOTE:

If you’ve not done so or it’s been awhile, please take a few minutes to read over the RULES of this site.
A few key points:

- With so many members posting about this case, it’s inevitable there will be differing opinions and theories. If you read a post that you do not agree with but does not violate any of the rules, KEEP SCROLLING. There is no need for all the bickering and rude comments. If you feel a post violates a rule, REPORT IT. Let us handle it. Those of you who choose to engage in this type of behavior stand the chance of having your posting privileges here revoked.

- Simply put, if you can’t provide a source link you can’t bring it up for discussion. If you have a question about a source or aren’t sure it’s approved for use, please use the report feature located at the bottom of any post to ask one of us for clarification rather than discussing it on thread. It often leads to confusion and is off-topic.

As for the sources a few of you had questions about recently, The Mirror/Daily Mirror (mirror.co.uk) is approved. The Sun (US & UK) is not approved. Hope this helps!

POST RESPONSIBLY!

So, new nothing...
They will need his confession. (for better prison conditions?!).
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for one. Offhand, I cannot think of one murderer who has acknowledged his/her crime voluntarily. I think it is part and parcel of exercising what power remains to them. And boy do they use it particularly when depriving grieving families information re their loved ones.

CB protested his innocence in the aggravated rape of DM to the end and beyond.

He could be out in 2026 unless they crack on with the 5 charges he faced or faces.
Do you think that is the lawyers' plan in their procedural manoeuvre?

Give into what ? Let's run with he had something to do with the girls demise, 6 yrs of investigating is suggestive that there is not enough to indict him, in which case what will be gained in a confession, better prison conditions ? He's in solitary, put him with others raising risk of attack, would that be an improvement !
The protracted jurisdiction argument has certainly allowed the international investigators leeway to keep on working on MM's. Why would they speed up on that when they don't have to? As long as there are investigative avenues still to be followed, why should they? The five cases awaiting trial are still on hold. CB is still held in jail

I'm not able to tell the real treatment I get because I don't have the right words for it.
I'm almost sure that some other persons in my situation, under all the pressure, the insults and the threatenings (sic) would have capitulated a long time ago.
They would have asked where they can sign the death judgement.

I even have to ask for the weekly jam and margarine that other inmates get automatically.
It is against human rights to get isolated for such a long time and in this way. Not even Goebbels and his war crimes friends were isolated like me when they were awaiting their death penalty in Nuremberg prison.

Will this become kinder for him?! He is the one who is claiming (or bluffing?!) but also saying I'm tough as old boots.
Will he really hold firm "just some more years"?
