The German Prosecutor has written to the McCann's that Maddie is deceased. I don't think that leaves a lot of room for ambiguity.

I'm not saying there isn't a letter. My point in the first place was what that letter contains. I doubt it says 'concrete evidence' or '100% proof' as The Mirror and Sun had claimed...and they were the first ones with the news about the letter.
I think the whole of the UK media has proved to be pretty terrible in this case, and errors are being made left right and centre.

Yes he did, he's put it out there, I don't think there is any 'poker playing' at all. It's just how the same case is treated in different counties by the different police forces. That's caused the miscommunications.

So the letter changes nothing at all.

Totally agree with the Tabloids part. But Sky News will not just give a bulletin using the story given by a Tabloid. They will further investigate before releasing any information. Hence the Tabloids release occurring hours before. Sky News have all too often reported on the Tabloids as having been sued by certain persons and companies for slander, fake news etc. In the UK, we see the Tabloids and then we wait for the News to come on. It has to be that way unfortunately X

The letter is a new development, otherwise the McCann's representative would of said the German Police has been in touch, they actually said they hadn't been in touch, the McCann's lawyer is on the war path because of it.

I don't know how German Law stacks up with 'mental illness' defence, 'he didn't know what he was doing when he killed Maddie'. He will take that course somewhere along the line.

Counselling is just a prelude to that.

Also it may depend on where he is on the psychopathy spectrum - if he is. Alesha MacPhail's killer denied the truth up to and at the trial.

Mr Wolters played down the significance of the Jaguar despite Scotland Yard appealing for information about it. He said the car was in Germany when Madeleine went missing and information about it was released only to jog memories. 'The vehicles are not of direct interest for the Madeleine case,' he said.

We now know the German LE are not sharing all the evidence with PJ and SY for fear it could hamper their investigation, read into that what you will.

The word concrete is quoted several times indicating the strongest assertion yet they all but know what happened.

The Jag wasn't used in the abduction, it was already in Germany when MM disappeared. Again, that raises a whole new set of questions when considering the re-registering on the 4th and then later to AB. How did it get there? What happened on the 4th? Why didn't CB want the vehicle in his name?

Since the recent police appeals regarding Madeleine’s disappearance there have been many inaccurate stories reported in the media. The widely reported news that we have a received a letter from the German authorities that states there is evidence or proof that Madeleine is dead is FALSE. Like many unsubstantiated stories in the media, this has caused unnecessary anxiety to friends and family and once again disrupted our lives.

As we have stated many times before, we will not give a running commentary on the investigation- that is the job of the law enforcement agencies and we will support them in any way requested. Furthermore, we do not have a family spokesperson nor are we actively paying any lawyers. Any recent comments attributed in the media have not come from us unless they have been posted on our website. If there are important developments that can be made public, they will be issued through official police channels.

The "psychopathy spectrum" doesn't matter. A psychopath knows right from wrong and they are legally sane.

I don't know. Maybe they haven't received a letter however their lawyer is going to Germany for an update.
