Again not everything is a conspiracy.

The samples have already been lifted from the crime scenes years ago and tested. A hair in the case of the 72 year old rape victim. These give profiles and partial profiles which can be then be compared via computer analysis to new suspects. Presumably given the match in the rape case, the hair was then sent to Germany as evidence in the trial.

In the MM case, it is said Portugal already compared the profiles it had on file with CB and found no match.

We don't know if they went to the lengths of retesting the samples but it is hard to see what the point would be. You don't need to do that every time you get a new suspect. It is also hard to understand why Portugal should send evidence it holds of a potential crime, to Germany, based on the say so of a Prosecutor without a lot more.

Can you imagine any LE surrender a precious sample in such a case?

Tomorrow you need it and there's no sample because you sent it to Germany for them to confirm something you already know is zero evidence.

thats why no one under 8 should be left home alone by law. If there was a fire, it wouldn’t matter if the door was locked or unlocked, you would have a 3 year old with two babies unable to get out regardless...

I have been reading a bit on trace DNA samples since reading this, and it seems there is much success in obtaining DNA profiles from trace samples through amplification and other methods.
This may or may not be possible with the trace saliva sample that the Portuguese are holding - but I wonder how the Portuguese can be so sure that no-one else can obtain a DNA profile from the trace sample.

I remember reading this somewhere in the files and I remember being suspicious. The keys were kept in the maintenance room and the maintenance guys could take them the night before their work.
I also remember reading that a washing machine was replaced during McCanns stay and the two guys came to do the job.
Mind you, they arrived only 4-5 days before Madeleine went missing.

here’s the scary thing from when I worked one summer at a uk camp....the keys were essentially useless. Most staff had a master key, loads would go missing and most doors could be opened with a sharp shove. you had contractors turning up to collect keys, staff losing them, residents losing them etc.

Now do you think a similar resort in Portugal would be the same, worse or miles better?

Yes I have read that too, amplification is one of the newest techniques in DNA analysis. And indeed, who knows whether this technique can be used on the saliva sample?

I've always read it that way.

The 'checking system' always sounded like bollocks to me. Are a group of 7 or 8 friends really going to have someone getting up every 5 minutes? And if yes, why? If you feel the need to check on the kids that much, isn't that an obvious indicator that they shouldn't be left alone? I don't think the checks were as regular as we're told.

As for Tannerman, I'm not sure of the timeline and when he came into existence. However, I've always wondered if the sighting was embellished upon, or even fabricated, in order to steer the investigators towards an abductor. There's a certain logic to it.

this is what i feel has happened. Many family holidays as a kid were sleeping on chairs at resort restaurants or discos as the rest of the adults relaxed. It’s a rights of passage!

if you are going to do a 10 minute check every 15 minutes, you may as well have the kids sleeping at the table like me and so many others over the years.

I feel that’s why there’s always suspicion for the family as they have had bouts of self preservation and misdirection.

Which the McCanns denied ever being away from the apartment for that amount of time ( over an hour) and denied they ever called their daughter 'Maddie' which happens to rhyme with daddy also. Some people have theorised the crying could have been someone shouting 'maddie'.

So many unknowns going on here. But, think it's fair to say the Portuguese LE lost interest in this case a long time ago, I'm not sure they would have had the inclination to keep re-analysing the sample as each new breakthrough in DNA technology came along so it could be from whatever technology was used in 2007.

If that is the case, they are in a bit of a lose-lose situation. If they refuse the request, they look petty and obstructive. If they accept the request and Germany find something in the sample, they look incompetent.

I've not seen anything about the German LE requesting ALL the collected samples, only specific ones. You'd like to think there's a good reason for that.

Indeed. You can guarantee these "anonymous sources" are nobody involved in the case who have the detail of what exactly has been requested and why. They probably just asked some random guys in a pub what they thought about it all. Or maybe it's Amaral...

He had a usb full of rapes and child and his own depraved acts.
He showed a video of him raping someone to a 'friend'.
Identikits exist of a person that looks like him in more than one case.
He has said that his van is great for transporting drugs and kids.
He said that he'd like to use a child for days on end.
His van has childrens swimwear in it.
He raped a woman only metres from the resort.
He was seen on the day of MM's abduction.
He left the area shortly after MM's abduction.
The German Police say they know that he killed MM.
He took his kiosk's freezers at knife point from the new owners.
He cut the roof off of his van and filled it with water.
He has a history of child sex offences from 1994 til 2017.
He has unexplained wealth and owns properties despite not having earning capacity.
He bragged about, and was seen to enter homes for burglaries in PdL and surrounds.
He was seen staring at the McCann's hotel room and balcony as MM played there.
