Baby monitors don't need to be held nor a button continuously pressed to listen in on the other end. Obviously the kids would not be able to hear their parents but the parents would be able to hear even light snoring, if positioned relatively nearby. This is how my kids monitors work anyway. Even if the battery gets low or dies on one end, the other monitor will be alerted.

It might have been owned by one of the other Tapas families

I wonder if those monitors were on all the time ... or do you have to pick it up and press a button to listen ? Did the family mention hearing anything ? Can you hear a baby monitor in a busy restaurant ?

Intruders tend to be quiet but I expect Madeleine would be awake and talking a bit.

Yes...all the parents would have needed a babyfoon in their children's room to monitor. Maybe only one family had it on the table/used it. I suppose the McCann's didn't use one...as I recall you can hear everything going on in the room where your child is and things going on with your child...crying, restlessness,
coughing....etc.

Never thought about that either!
When my daughter was just a baby,one neighbor came to our door and said she could hear everything we said on her baby monitor.We had the same brand and if I remember correctly,the monitor had 3 channels,so after she notified us,we switched channels.
We had one of the brand Phillips.

In the book of Madeleine McCann-The Disappearance,there is also a mention of baby monitors.

the only couple that didn't have a baby monitor were the McCanns.

i believe the three other couples had baby monitors... Payne's had the one that they used in the tapas all the time. Tanner is quoted as having a monitor that only worked part of the time or it was faulty. so stopped using it. Not sure why Oldfield's didn't use theirs (but most likely due to the tapas being too far for monitor to pick up the base unit in the bedroom, imo).

if that happened, that was a massive lucky break for CB... it is possible that the American lady's laptop was one of those computers.

no wonder he did not want the police to know his farmhouse address.

also shows that the farmhouse/finca was cleared by the owner while CB was in prison. no way would CB have left computers and mobile phones in the place if he left the farmhouse after December 2016.

but it also raises the question about the 'staged' burglary CB requested to retrieve all the stolen goods. why didn't those german 'friends' take the phones and the computers?

every new detail clears one aspect, then raises new fuzziness.

All that's nice theories without the slightest evidence. Abduct child against drugs? Can you substantiate that anyhow? Mr. Wolters believes MM is dead because he said in black web he would "destroy" evidence. I'll play his lawyer and ask, so why didn't he destroy evidence when he raped the retired woman in PDL? German authorities also arrested him for molesting a child in Germany as adult. No details offered, but one can guess he didn't destroy evidence. Is CB just a black web braggart? Hard questions to answer.

i find this endless speculation about edge cases quite agitating and has even less evidence than the story i posted.
what if, what if what if..?.. how about piecing together a believable narrative that proposes a solution to an entire timeline?..isnt that what we are trying to do?..
saying that there isnt a shred of evidence ...?.... he did flee germany, he was in portugal in 1996, he was there in 2007, he did work in PdL and Lagos, he did go back and forth to and from germany, he did own a place 40km from Inga, there were known pedos in PdL, he did burgle, he did rape, he did molest.
there's plenty of evidence.

P 2006?: Bernhard P: BP Connection - CB used BP's car yard to store his van at times (Daily Mirror).
P 2006: buys blue bedford van with Austrian friend Michael Tatschl in 2006. bedford has portuguese plates.
P 2006: Feb-April: CB and MT lived in the Bedford van between Feb and April 2006. Daily Mail source.
MT says he lives with CB at the Finca (farmhouse) and camped in a van in the garden, (possibly the Bedford).

P 2006: [arrested april 7th] [‘caught red handed’ according to MT] on remand 8.5 months in portugal. trial December 21. released December 2006, stealing 320 litres of diesel from lorries. Michael Tatschl cellmate, co-criminal in the crime [MT fined €1800, CB fined a bit more than that because he swore at the judge]. MT is austrian carpenter.
P 2006: ??while in jail changes registration of jag to AB
P 2006: while in jail instructs ‘friend’ to remove all stolen goods from farmhouse
P 2006: while in jail friend robs all CB valuables from farmhouse, including video recorder.
P 2006: while in jail?? {date?? a former accomplice, with whom he had previously stolen diesel fuel (Tatschl), was told of the video Brückner had apparently filmed of the rape, and eventually police came to his door so he had to tell his story [> see april 2019].}

P 2006: Finca Owner ‘states neighbours contacted him in 2006 to say the place was in a state of abandonment, he reported it to the police and found out CB may have been arrested.’

his residence is gone. his clothes are all gone. all the computers have gone. all the phones have gone. all the cash is gone. the watches and valuables are all gone. the passports are all gone. the video camera is gone. the video recordings are gone*. the bedford is given up to pay the fine. his co-conspirator MT is off to Austria, and then Spain. CB is homeless.

presumably he comes out of jail with his number 1 personal phone**.
