This is picture shown by GA.

It reads on the left Portuguese inscriptions, which makes it highly unlikely to be CB's authorship, who couldn't even speak Portuguese. So painting must have been done after he sold van in 2015.

For the sake of curiosity inscriptions "FAZ AS MALAS!" and "FUGIMOS HOJE" translate as "pack your bags!" and "today we run away".

Those pack your bags/run away messages look like they’ve been stencilled on (to my inexperienced, crap-at-art eye).

oh no. not the van again. your 'where's the van parked' question was a real head scratcher. i must have googlemapped around 20 ports!

Also there is a stencil on Flickr with the same text. But that is as far as my brain works tonight.

Yes, I had a good look too. Where was the picture from? Is it important? Whoever provided it initially obviously knows where it originated from.

Good. Me too. The van is an important piece of evidence. That's why it's a recurring theme.

Sure, DLK. But aren't we supposed to play sleuths?

Give me a clue Mendel lol. Where did you get the picture from?

Amaral said the van had the pictures on in an article in a Portuguese paper. There is a reddit thread on it. I can’t link in the story but it has been in msm

well due to the hills in the close background i crossed off portimao, and lagos, and faro. and lisbon. and porto.
the quirky arrows matched a little with northern spain or france road signs.
Marseilles no. Nice no.
after trawling around the massive port area of bilbao i gave up.

i did wonder what kind of crazy photographer would take a photo of the back end of his beaten up camper. then the reflection of the person in the window to the left made me wonder if the LE had cropped the left side of the photo (the bit showing the actual person) before releasing it.

The van is thought to be an important piece of evidence. It's admitted they used it to kidnap MM. I'd like to know when, where and who took those pictures. It clearly has a German plate (ungraffitied version). If it was took by police, why did they hand it the van to him again? Or was it taken by a witness somewhere and now passed to police? It makes a great difference.

I thought this westfalia van was the one the police had found in the mate’s scrapyard.

No, the picture that looks like a port.

That's one the van's pictures most spread by newspapers. You can find it in almost any news talking about CB.

So why do you think that location is important to the case?

The police obviously know where the photo was taken.

Where has it been admitted it was used to kidnap MM?

From Daily Mail:

"As part of the appeal for information, the Met Police said in a statement that the suspect had ‘access to this van from at least April 2007 until sometime after May 2007’.

It added: ‘We believe he was living in this van for days, possibly weeks, and may have been using it on 3 May 2007.

‘We are appealing for anyone who may have seen it in or around Praia da Luz on 3 May, the night Madeleine went missing, the days before, or weeks following the disappearance.’"

Even tough they don't say expressly the van was used in kidnapping, if we assume he kidnapped MM then we can infer he was highly likely to have transported her in the van, don't you agree?

I think it may be Gibdock - The sea port of Gibralter -
Look at the buildings in the background in the westfalia pic if you google Gibdock Shipyard you will see a pic of a Balearia Ferry - (Can someone upload that pic pls)?
The steepness of the land suggests it could be too - and possibly drugs coming in from North Africa would make sense.
For some reason, I may be wrong that one of the road signs on the westfalia pic MAY have a "tunnel" pic, found EU road signs on wiki.
