So, she isn't in Braunschweig. No Interpol warrant would be needed, then.

IIRC, it wasn’t an arrest warrant, but an “alert” from way back when they first wanted to speak to her but she was “in hiding”.

Ok, so can any knowledeable Kik users answer me this? Since entering your phone number is optional and done in a free text field (it is, I checked) rather than actually extracted from your phone and verified, could anyone with a Kik account just list their phone number as the Portuguese number (as a joke for example) and that's where this whole thing has come from? And then, at a later date, the user has just changed it to this UK number. Is that possible?

In this case, if she is hiding in the UK, MWT has put her life in danger, because CB's associates can find her before the police find her.

Hmmmm.. Why would they do this? Let's say they have no Kik contacts ( because I understand if they change numbers all their contact with numbers would know this) and this is a fake account. What would be the reason someone plays with this?
Kik is used mostly by young users. Maybe a child was playing with this but why would they put in that photo?

The Portuguese number was on the KIK account in 2019 - way before it was released a few weeks ago. That's whats bugging me.

Another good argument the lead is false and MTW knows it (but not his audience). Otherwise he would have passed it to police and had to keep mouth shut (not easy for him I concede).

How do you know that it was on there in 2019?

I thought the account was there in 2019 but the number could have been added any time.

This is what I thought, too.

Maybe that's why NM is in hiding and scared for her life - Seems to be some big axes grinding here imo

There's a screen grab on the tweet.
I don't think that's what it's showing. This screen grab is just from someone else's Kik account showing people listed in their own phone's contacts. i.e. if you have a kik account, you store some phone numbers in your Phone's contacts (like the portugal number), then when you log into Kik, it searches for those numbers and pulls up any users who have those numbers stored on their Kik profile. So the one with the picture of this girl for example comes up with the tag "Just now" next to it. The other names underneath from 2019 are just other Kik contacts from whoever's phone/computer we are looking at, they're nothing to do with this girl's account.

Anyone here use Kik who can verify?

You need to click on the users profile to see how long they’ve had an account for. It shows under their profile pic, and it doesn’t give you an actual date, it’ll just say “123 days”.

But even then, it won't tell you how long they've had that phone number listed on their account. It just tells you when the account was created. I've got a Kik account but rarely use it and don't have it set up to access my phone contacts as I don't want it to, but I just had a little play with it and it just lets you change the phone number field to whatever you want as often as you want.

Kik doesn't send messages using the phone number, it's deliberately set up to avoid that. The only purpose of inputting your phone number onto Kik is that it allows other people who know you to find your user profile by cross checking against their phone contacts (if that's what you want).

I honestly believe someone has done it on purpose as a joke or to fake a story. Putting a number in this field does not prove you own the number, I could put the Portugal number on my account right now. And there's no proof of when that number was added to the account based on those screen grabs, someone's likely done it when the number came out in the news and MWT has then done a search on Kik by storing the portugal number in his contacts and had this account come up. (The blanked out names by the way are whatever you have the contact saved as on your phone).

That's my theory anyway, feel free to debunk it. Oh, and that picture could be put on by anyone, whoever it is it's not NM.

100% agree, there’s no way of knowing how long they’ve had the phone number. There’s actually no way of knowing if the number associated with the account is even theirs.
Kik is such an unreliable medium.
