The Jaguar came from Germany and had german plates, he most likely arrived in Portugal by car. The van had portuguese plates so, I'm guessing he rented or bought it. He was living at a house at some point so, if he started living in the van, something changed. He was working at hotels and stuff, which is the go to type of job in Algarve anyways and he obviously spoke german and that would make him the perfect candidate to get that type of job. This whole story doesn't make much sense to me. Had a Jaguar but was living on a van, was living at a house at some point for what seemed like a somewhat long period of time but then goes and starts living on a van. I don't really think she was abducted, but I wouldn't be too surprised if a bunch of foreign guys left Algarve in a rush when Madeleine "went missing" and LE started knocking on Robert Murat's door. So, him leaving the country and going back to Germany is not that weird looking at the bigger picture.
Rachel Charles was abducted and killed by Michael Cook, a family friend, in Algarve in 1990. Madeleine is not the first victim, but she would be the first one to be a victim of a stranger.
a cheap old camper would be much more practical for days off/weekends exploring the algarve - than a jag.
plenty of people own a camper van for trips, and also rent a house to live in the rest of the time.

It said in one of the reports that he made money by doing up cars

Even curiouser - how do you soup-up top-end cars....while living in your camper van - ?

Where's the tools, the garage......where do your sources for parts send them-?

No offense to your reporting - just to be clear.....glad you shared that....just don't know how that's done without a garage/tools etc

Yes, sure. What doesn't make sense is living in the van.

Not a prediction, he did his job. As much the brits like to talk crap about Amaral, he tried. Her parents didn't want to help, and that's a fact. He was doing his job and they got offended because he did what he was supposed to do: look at the parents, and then the british public opinion got annoyed too.
i agree. from what i read he did a good job. if you have listened to the aussie podcast, you will also know what Amaral said about this current german suspect.

He really wanted and I believe he still wants to give this poor child some justice, be it the parents or a stranger. What he had to deal with was not fair.

maybe living in a van is a good narrative for someone suspicious. remember the guy living in a white van, who was deemed suspicious at the start. scruffy etc. lurking around the church. or whatever. that turned out to be an English musician touring the algarve.
while people are away touring in their camper vans - for days/weekends/weeks, it obviously looks like they are living in them. i haven't seen any details yet that say how long he was living in a van. or whether the times overlapped with his rented property. sure that will all become clear pretty soon.

Just wondering could he have planned to just rob the place but Madeline woke up and seen him so he grabbed her. And another thought if you are a pedophile what better vehicle to drive around, grab and dash.

I respectfully disagree. The man was an absolute shambles. From the beginning, just the way the crime scene was treated says it all.

Just asking if you know its not him, do you know who it is?
the quote i copied is from the 'retired' pj policeman Amaral. he makes his opinions known in the 'Maddie' podcast. which is a very good listen. he doesn't give a name of this german suspect, but he does predict a german will become a suspect. and today - it has happened.

the crime scene was contaminated very very early on. multiple people in the apartment before the police even got there and before Amaral even knew there had been a crime. interested to know why that was Amaral's fault?

When we find out at some point exactly what has happened it will be devastating, if she was killed or if she was trafficked, being taken from your parents and siblings for all of these years is something I cannot even fathom.
Poor little girl. My heart breaks over her every time I'm reminded of this case. It's such a long time she's been gone. Either scenario is so horrific to imagine. :(

I hope this isn't a bunch of hooey again. I suppose once they interrogate him, they will find out. I so wish she were alive.

Where can I find the Aussie podcast please?

I think you will find I can share my opinion and my post clearly states it’s my opinion. The papers over the years have certainly implied who they think did it and so did the Portuguese detectives who worked the case.

And some of us feel this is exactly the kind of case with which you have to be careful not to let the media sway you. The Portuguese LE didn't charge anyone with a crime related to this case. They didn't solve it.
I believe she was kidnapped.

'What I know is that the suspect is not him, it's another man. He's also in prison in Germany. He's also a paedophile.

'Years later, many years later, it appears that in an Internet chatroom there is a conversation between that person and another person where they talk about Madeleine.'

Ex-Portuguese police chief claims leading Madeleine McCann suspect is a mystery German paedophile | Daily Mail Online

This is so disturbing. Maybe the person who was talking to him on this chat room (anonymously perhaps?) is who the police were hinting at to come forward earlier. When they seemed to be aiming it at someone in particular...

“You may be aware of some of the things he has done. He may have confided in you about the disappearance of Madeleine. More than 13 years have passed and your loyalties may have changed. He is in prison and we are conscious that some people may have been concerned about contacting police in the past. Now is the time to come forward. We are appealing to you.”

Possibility of a larger ring involved. I think some surprises are coming.
You may very well be correct ..... especially because Scotland Yard is involved .... thus also would be INTERPOL ..... they know just about everyone involved in child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 (usually requires a kidnapping) but they are "helpless" because the rings are super careful not to be caught with any evidence and cannot be charged.

Few years ago I read a gut wrenching book by a former investigator ... he retired early because he was so impacted by crimes against children
