The aviation folks state by the time it was searched, any debris would have drifted away with the currents. if you look at this map- it is believable (to me) he saw "something"....

I agree however the US never found any evidence of an explosion.

Like what does that mean , how do they do it, i thought it was interesting and then the poster bought up some real issues ----that were valid questions

CNN former NTSB managing director reports Malaysia not following the treaty signed that provides methods/protocol for investigation. Same treaty signed by multiple countries.

Upthread, a member posted the actual tweets from a reporter that spoke with this letter writer's boss iirc.

Learning a lot myself. So the airline can opt-out, but it sounds like the data gets transmitted anyway to Boeing, who makes it available to subscribers, like Rolls Royce. I wonder if Boeing will be able to determine what happened?

Interesting point, I did know it was like an option for the airline but in a way for me that was good news in terms of the rage at being lied to . I know about the device and all along been thinking oh please if it were a aircraft problem it would be transmitting TONS of data.......like explossive decompression etc your parameters would be really messed up in that final second and they all are saying we know nothing your following me i hope

so to find out the airline did not option that feature soothed me a bit if that makes sense?

Has Boeing released any statements or information? I don't recall any. Certainly they must have info regarding the ACARs transmissions. They may be smart enough to just pass that info to NTSB and then keep quiet for now.

In the email, Michael McKay describes what he believed to be a plane burning at high altitude, about 50 to 70 km away from his location.

McKay said while he “observed the burning (plane), it appeared to be in one piece.”

The oil rig worker provided GPS coordinates of his location and an approximate location where he saw the plane.

“From when I first saw the burning (plane) until the flames went out (still at high altitude) was 10 to 15 seconds,” he wrote. “There was no lateral movement, so it was either coming toward our location, stationary (falling) or going away from our location.”
