No... No matter how many pics they show of a raft....I will not believe them.

This whole thing is insane! Where are those poor people?

With all the confusion I'll remain skeptical this info is true...

A raft- that promptly sank before they identified it.

Fishermen managed to drag in it- and the Malaysian authorities let in fall into the sea
:tantrum:

I just can't believe that! It's too ridiculous. Surely not.....

Okay so let me get this straight before my head explodes.

We have a missing AIRPLANE.
Fisherman find a life raft likely from an AIRPLANE.
FISHERMEN salvage the raft and tie it to their boat.

AUTHORITIES show up to "retrieve" the raft.
AUTHORITIES ALLOW THE RAFT TO SINK INTO THE SEA.

Do I have that straight?!?!
Seriously, we couldn't make this up if we TRIED.

http://www.raftservice.com/aviation/eam-rafts-t-12.php

apparently airline life rafts do say "boarding" on them- click pic to zoom on link above.

and the colors seem to be correct

ETA: Marine life rafts are very similar...sigh

http://www.rfd.co.nz/products/marine-products/marine-liferafts/dsb-lr07,-lr-97rsr.aspx

This aircraft was new on May 31 2002.

It's serial number is 28420 and is a boeing 777.
There should be a company listed somewhere online that built the rafts for them right?

According to the folks on airliner.net, this raft has (had) a serial number on it. The airline should have the information on which rafts by serial number on are each plane.

I am so far beyond furious there is no WORDS!
I do not understand such incompetence!

We finally have SOMETHING that didn't disappear before they arrived and they let it SINK!? :stormingmad:

And why does twitter keep saying "Hope as fishermen find life raft." :banghead:
HOW is this hopeful? There was no people in the life raft and they let it SINK!!!!
Where is the HOPE in that?! :banghead:

MH370: Fishermen find life raft, but it "sunk into the sea" when in custody of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA)...

I'm sure they do.
But how are they going to compare the serial numbers.
They let the raft sink into the sea.
They will have to retrieve it first. :banghead:

(Unless someone took a picture of the serial number before it sank. That's be helpful.)

I'm more inclined to believe it since it comes with a picture. :banghead:

Quite a good summary about some of the statements made to date...

IS Malaysia laying a deliberate smokescreen?

Malaysian authorities have made a number of conflicting statements since Saturday, while failing to address rumours about the plane.

1. NEIGHBOURS GETTING ANNOYED

2. PLANE NOT MISSING, JUST DELAYED

3. CONFLICTING REPORTS ABOUT FLIGHT PATH

4. THE MISSING HOUR

5. TERRORISM RUMOURS LINGERERED

6. APPEARANCE OF STOLEN PASSPORT HOLDERS

7. MYSTERY FIVE BECOME MYSTERY FOUR

8. HOW SECURE WAS THE COCKPIT? POSSIBLY NOT VERY

9. LIGHTS IN THE NIGHT SKY

10. WHEN WAS FINAL RADIO CONTACT?

11. DID DAMAGED WINGTIP WEAKEN PLANE?

But we do not know what Malaysian air does.
All we have to go on is previous accidents...
And that IS an aircraft raft... so who knows.
Where would you get one of those if not from an airplane?! :banghead:

A maritime vessel...

Vietnam today disclosed it noticed Flight MH370 had turned back to the west on Saturday and informed Malaysian authorities the same day but received no response.

The revelations came as the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines jet swung northwest towards the Andaman Sea
on Wednesday, far from its intended flight path.

"We informed Malaysia on the day we lost contact with the flight that we noticed the flight turned back west but Malaysia did not respond," Vietnam deputy minister of transport Pham Quy Tieu was quoted as saying by AFP today.

"We've asked Malaysian authorities twice, but so far they have not replied to us," Tieu said, when asked about a media report that the plane had been detected over the Strait of Malacca.

A maritime vessel...

I don't see any that say boarding on them.... :waitasec:
Anything is possible of course... it just looks more like a plane raft to me.
