Circumstances of Recovery:
Decedent was found in a canal, just north of the US-Mexico border.

The "GORDO" friendship bracelet caught my eye. I increased the exposure (lightened) the original and attached lighter photo with the hope that the colors, design and stitching/weaving showed up more clearly.

I also found a seller on Etsy CynthiaartsShop who makes bracelets that look a lot like the one found on the decedent. I realize that friendship bracelets/ID bracelets are trendy and many people make them, but thought her info might be worth posting.

Look at the IVONNE sample and how it has a similar design to the GORDO anklet/bracelet. Larger photo here and attached for comparison.

According to Google Translate, "Gordo" means fat/plump/thick, so I wonder if that might have been his nickname..

They used to sell similar bracelets near my school almost 30 years ago (of course, with local names, not Hispanic). I think my brother had one.
