For the second time this year, police in the Metro East area have arrested someone on suspicion of riding a lawn mower while legally intoxicated.

This time it was Donald R. Barton, 40, of Collinsville, who was arrested about 8 p.m. Sunday on his Power Pro riding mower on eastbound U.S. Highway 40 in Troy, Ill., authorities said.

Troy police say they responded to a tip from a passing motorist and found Barton on his way from a party at a friend's house to the Elevator Tavern in Troy.

Officers performed roadside sobriety tests. They said Barton's blood-alcohol content was 0.13 percent. The legal limit is 0.08 percent

He was charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a revoked license and driving without headlights.

It was Barton's third drunken driving charge, making the charge rise to the felony level. He was being held Tuesday at the Madison County jail, with bail set at $20,000.
