Anyway, I don't dispute that her hair was artificially lightened for the pageants, so I don't know what difference it makes whether her hair was naturally dark blond or brunette.

IMO

Because blonde is sexier. JonBenet as blonde fulfilled Patsy's alter ego.

...Rose, who was famous for her sex appeal.
As she turned, Miss Brodie put her arm around Rose's shoulder and thanked Mr. Lloyd for his help, as if she and Rose were one.
"No", said Teddy Lloyd in his hoarse way,"she's dark." [Jean Brodie]
Sandy saw that the head of the portrait was fair, it was Rose's portrait all right.
Rose was blonde.

I also heard that Patsy had a bridge made for JonBenet when her baby teeth were falling out so it would look like she had a full set of teeth in the pagaents. Absurd isn't it?

Candy, I heard that too. Absurd is right!

IMO

Assuming the infamous MyTwinn doll was blue eyed and blonde haired like the pretend vision of JonBenet not mousey brown haired with green eyes. Poor kid, no wonder she couldn't developed a positive self image or enough self estem to be potty trained.

I have been letting a copy of the movie of "Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" sit on my Tivo unwatched for some months now, but you prompt tonight's viewing.

I am but a few minutes in, and what do we have here?

Emily: I'm a Girl Guide, Miss Brodie. I have six merit badges, one for knot-tying, one for flag-folding . . .

Miss Brodie: Indeed. For those who like that sort of thing that is the sort of thing they like. You may sit down, Emily. And this is Mary McGregor. Well, what about you, Mary? You don't look to me like a girl who ties knots.

Mary: No, Miss Brodie, but my brother does.

Miss Brodie: That is as it should be.

This could be quite the fertile night.

Miss Brodie: Prop up your books in case of intruders. If there are intruders, we are doing our history. We will not do our history.

...

Miss Brodie: You did well, Monica, not to answer the question put to you. It is well when in difficulties to say never a word, neither black nor white.

Sandy: But you did, Miss Brodie. You were in difficulty and you made up about Floren.

Miss Brodie: Sandy, please try to do as I say and not as I do. Remember, you are a child, Sandy, and far from your prime.

...

The Brodie Set, indeed. Wee girls refusing to wash their faces. Miss Brodie then informed me she hasn't washed her face in twenty years.

Too bad we don't have excerpts from "Hey Rube".
Jonbenet's photographer chose the blue,(hasn't he since been institutionalized?),her teeth were her OWN!,her hair was lightened, however I was born in the 40's and suffered through many a "tonette" as did every other child that didn't have "Shirley's curls". IMO

Any self-respecting natural blonde knows a bleach job--JBR's hair was not bleached, but at the most highlighted. There's lots of towheads in Boulder---with the higher elevation, a kid that is on the fair side, will have much lighter hair. Dark blonde hair would also lighten up in summer in the Michigan sun. Look at JBR's baby pictures---very light blonde hair---she had JR's coloring moreso than Patsy's.

That makes sense Makai!
I believed it was a bit of spray on lemon or sun-in,but you are correct I forgot about the bleaching effect in high altitudes, also that of chlorine/sun exposure.

From the movie, Brodie to Sandy "Your talent is to kill without conscience."

If you watch the movie notice Jean Brodie's outfits. Almost all of them are a shade of purple. Patsy spends several paragraphs on purple in DOI.

Sandy waved from the window, and wondered if Jenny, too, had the feeling of leading a double life, fraught with the problems that even a millionaire did not have to face. It was well known that millionaires led double lives.

Sandy was never bored, but she had to live a doulble life in order never to be bored.

Sandy who had been reading Kidnapped,...

One day, Sandy, you will go too far for my liking.

...it always seemed afterwards to Sandy that where there was a choice of various courses, the most economical was best, and the course to be taken was the most expedient and most suitable at the time for all the objects at hand. She acted on this principle when it came time for her to betray Miss Brodie.

Sandy will make an excellent secret service agent, a great spy.

There was an archeological find recently in La Venta canyon Mexico of caves high above the river. In those cases were found the skeletal remains of children three years and younger. Their skulls had been separated from the body, the base hole of the skulls were widened for a ritual meal of brains by priests. Some of the skulls had been deformed suggesting they had been prepared from birth for the meal.

There was another find in the Andes of a girl that had been marched up to high altitude, clubbed in the head, wrapped and burried as an offering to counter-act the erruption of a nearby volcano. The examination of the corpse showed a healthy, well formed and probably beautiful little girl.

What better gift to the Gods than your most precious possession?

You mean aside from the fact that Patsy grew up in 20th Century West Virginia and not ancient Mesoamerica?

Exactly, deep human truths transcend time and place.
