Reminds me of that old joke...

A man's home was being flooded in a torrential rainstorm. The water rose higher and higer and he prayed to God to save him. Soon two men in a motor boat come to his second floor window and tell him to jump in. He says "God will save me, I'm staying here." Later he has to climb to the roof as the water rises. A helicopter with rescuers calls to him to grab onto the rope they hang down for him. "God will save me", he proclaims and waves them off. He drowns in the flood and is up in heaven when he meets God he says "Why didn't you save me?" God looks at him incredulously and says "For crying out out, I sent a boat and a chopper, what did you want me to do?".

My mama always said that God helps those who help themselves.
