A self-styled online pedophile catcher was killed over the weekend in Michigan when he was gunned down after a confrontation with a man he accused of being a sexual predator.

While I appreciate what this man was trying to do, there was a real problem with his most recent case.

Remember, he portrayed himself to be a 15 yr old girl online. Ok, this is the problem:

Lee approached two young men at a restaurant about 10:30 p.m. Friday, according to the news release. He accused one of the men of being a pedophile and punched him, prompting the man to pull out a knife, officials said. The other man pulled out a pistol and shot Lee several times, officials said.

The Pontiac pair, one age 17 and the other 18, were arrested Saturday but have not been publicly identified by police. The sheriff’s office said investigators believe the 17-year-old was the shooter.

The so called 'pedophiles' were just 2 and 3 years older than the teen they were speaking to. I think it's a stretch to call a 17 yr old a pedo for talking sexy to a 15 yr old. My daughter was a sophomore when she dated a senior at her school. He was not a pedophile.

So I think this well meaning vigilante made some mistakes. He went after 2 teens for talking to another teen online. And he punched one of them. Big mistake right there. JMO

Well they arrested two boys; one is a minor; he’s the shooter. Guy hit the 18 yr old who pulled a knife; then the 17 yr old opened fire. He could make the case that he was in fear for his life.

By taking the law into his own hands, the vigilante put all those people in the restaurant at risk and lost his own life.

I understand the loathing of pedophiles, but they are dangerous predators, and LE needs to be the ones making the confrontations. JMO

In fear for his life because someone punched his friend? Not buying it but he's 17 so he'll likely get away with it. I agree the victim should leave these kinds of confrontations to LE but people are fed up. There will be more of these type of incidents with underfunding the police.
