The conspiracy theorist claimed on the blog post that his 'extreme act of protest' was to draw light to what he called a 'totalitarian con.'

Just a warning, mainstream news sources have been posting photos of the man on fire

There is a video out there too - it is jarring to put it lightly.

In reading his "research" results what is frightening to me is that he is not the only one who believes in a secret government behind the government where Republicans and Democrats are actually secretly working together with their goal being to keep the general public at each others throats for the betterment of the secret government behind the curtain. This type of conspiracy theory is very prevalent across social media forums. I mean it's crazy to think that he thought by setting himself on fire he would get the world to finally believe his theory is correct.

I suspect we will hear that this poor soul has a history of mental health issues. I feel for his family, how shocking and upsetting this must be for them.

A very very unwell man. This is horrible. What an awful sight to see too.

He seems like an intelligent and conscientious person. I hope he recovers soon, both mentally and physically. This reminds me of the Tiananmen Square protest.

Fascinates me that this is the conclusion reached.

Burns are the most horrible experience. The pain is excruciating. Even with medication. And the medical staff has to scrub down the skin each day, to keep it clean, and ensure that there is no scar tissue build up.

He probably has lung damage, possibly vision issues. So sad.

If no more than 80% of their body area is burnt and the self-immolator is younger than 40 years old, there is a survival chance of 50%. If the self-immolator has over 80% burns, the survival rate drops to 20%.

Is anyone really surprised that something like this happened ? I can't say I am the least bit shocked.

Remember this did not help free Tibet, it will not help free the US. Please don't do this.

At least there were a few decent souls who seemed affected by the horror. In the picture I saw, most had their phones out recording the ghastly scene. smh

I assumed he was deceased and was surprised to read that he is alive (but in critical condition according to TMZ).

Seems like there would have been enough security in this area for his act to have had small chance of "success", but I guess not.
