Transgender father denied leadership role in Canadian breastfeeding support group



Trevor MacDonald, a Winnipeg transgender father, says his desire to become leader of a breastfeeding support group was rejected because a man cannot take the role under the group's policy.




MacDonald, who was born female and gave birth to his 16-month-old son, has been breastfeeding the child using a supplemental nursing system and donated breast milk, according to the Nationalpost.com.

While he acknowledges that he doesn't fit the standard definition of a breastfeeding mother, McDonald feels the La Leche League Canada's policy is outdated. He credits LLLC with accepting him and his unique situation and for helping him learn to breastfeed with the aid of a supplemental nursing system, but laments the fact that he is not allowed to lead within the organization.

If "he" still has a uterus, all related female genitalia, and monthly cycles then "he" is NOT a man.

If he had sex change surgery AFTER the baby was delivered then he must have gotten it done in Thailand or someplace, I can't imagine that a legit Canadian or US doctor would do it right after the "man in a woman's body" just chose to get pregnant and deliver a baby. That would bring up huge ethical questions regarding being sound of mind.

On the otherhand, if she isn't actually breastfeeding then why join a group?

:waitasec::sheesh: After some thought, a little anyway, there is no politically correct position here. Men have breasts and feed babies. You just kind of figured that confusion would replace order eventually.
