Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean caught!!

Charges filed against Laurean came along with a state arrest warrant on January 12, 2008. He was also federally charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution (UFAP) in the Eastern District of North Carolina, and a federal warrant was issued for his arrest. http://www.newsadvance.com/lna/news/local/article/cesar_laurean_captured/3789/

Ohhh, perhaps the military will get their day with him as well! :woohoo:

WooHOOOOOOOOOOO I am so glad they captured him.
I agree with you all I think his wife is involved too.

From Huffington Post:

MORELIA, Mexico — Chained at the wrists and ankles, the American Marine wanted in the brutal slaying of a pregnant colleague stared straight ahead Thursday night, but his eyes occasionally filled up with tears as he answered a reporter's questions.

Cpl. Cesar Laurean was presented by police in the small town of Tacambaro, in western Mexico, hours after Mexico authorities arrested him.

No, Kat, it was not. It was a private residence.

Well, drat! Ok. *sigh* I'd hoped they could really stick it to them, is all. I've been following the case, but haphazardly and couldn't remember.

I would do backflips if I were able right now, Cheko! Better late than never, huh?! His Mexican vacation has finally ended. Put down the tequila bottle, Cesar...you are going to rot in hell for the rest of your life. :behindbar

Correct me if I am wrong...but doesn't this make a liar out of LE stating they had him under surveillance for a few days before his arrest? This says Mexican authorities caught him on a fluke!!! So our boys in the NCIS and FBI are not the heros after all...like they proudly proclaimed. Interesting.

Magdalena Guzman, a spokeswoman for Michoacan state prosecutors, said police carrying out an anti-kidnapping operation stopped Laurean as he wandered on a street because they thought he looked suspicious.

When they realized he didn't speak Spanish well, they became even more suspicious. After running his name through a computer - and recognizing his distinctive tattoos - they realized that the United States wants him extradited to face charges in the death of Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach.

The Marines have no murder charges out on him. The civilian courts do.

And the Marines told Congressman Mike Turner they considered the rape case, "concluded." Have the Marines charged him or his wife with anything? Is the rape case closed? Will those charges now be dropped if they consider that case closed? Can they close the rape case and never charge him with murder?

If the Marines charge him with murder who's trial is first and can one trial keep the other from happening?

The Marine Corps dropped the ball on Maria Lauterbach's rape case. So I would not be surprised in the least if they have dropped the rape charges.

The Marine Corps need to be charged with obstruction of justice in their handling of Maria's rape and murder. They should certainly not be permitted to handle (i.e.drop) the murder charges. No way.

The Eastern District of North Carolina is the circuit court which encompasses Onslow County. It has nothing whatsoever, at all, to do with the military.

It is a civilian court.

Repeat of LKL with "Dog" the Bounty Hunter on CNN now discussing the case.

``You know my name. You know who I am,'' said the bearded Laurean, who was wearing a red Aeropostal shirt. Asked if he wanted to say anything, Laurean simply said ``Proof,'' but wouldn't explain.

~snip~

Laurean had told police that he had been sleeping in fields and eating avocados and other fruit he found there.

So where did he get such an expensive shirt?! He should be very filthy and quite skinny, too (which I doubt). Proof?! ROFLMAO They have all the proof they need to put him away for life. I guess his devoted wife forgot to mention that to him or he was remiss in not googling his name!

EXCLUSIVE INFO AND DETAILS: He was just walking down the street at 6:00pm Thursday night in a town outside of Morelia, Mexico. The area is called Tacambaro and I am told by my contacts in the region that police officers were doing a routine inspection of a neighborhood. That’s where officers walk the beat and talk to people. When they approached Cesar Laurean and said hello and asked him a routine question or two, (more at link)

Suspect in slaying of pregnant Marine speaks to the Associated Press
April 10, 2008 23:58 EDT

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- The Marine arrested in Mexico in the killing of a pregnant colleague is awaiting extradition back to the U.S.

Speaking to The Associated Press after his arrest, Cesar Laurean was asked if he wanted to say anything. He said "Proof," but wouldn't explain. Asked what he would do next, he answered, "Do I have a choice?...I don't know."

Laurean is charged with murder in the death of fellow Marine Maria Lauterbach , whose burned remains and those of her fetus were found in January in his backyard in North Carolina. Lauterbach had earlier accused Laurean of rape.

The FBI says it hopes Laurean can be brought back to the U.S. as quickly as possible. But a prosecutor in North Carolina says it could be a year or two before Laurean returns if he fights extradition.

Laurean was arrested Thursday night after a three-month search.

This is just south of San Luis Potosi - half way between Guadalajara and Mexico City. Interesting, Potosi is where his bus ticket from Houston was to.

I have followed this case very closely, but have not seen this before. Are you saying that it was known beforehand that he had purchased a ticket from Houston to Potosi? Do you have a link?

Because the only prior suggestion that he was in Mexico which has been published was that one of his cousins had spotted him in a liquor store. Not very reliable. But a bus ticket to the town he was captured in? That is really Un-believable.

I am thrilled. I knew it would happen one day. jIf ever the time was right to tell the truth, for Cesar Laurean, It is now. He needs to tell exactly what happened and go before a jury of his peers and let them decide this case and deliver the punishment. I don't know what to think about Christina though. I know they are married and I think she must believe his story of what happened to Maria. I don't believe she had anything to do with Maria's death. I think she whole heartedly believes his story. And while many are convinced she was involved, I'm not. The ploice I guarentee you know a heck of alot more than they have said. She had been emailing him from her sister's computer and they were planning to meet in Las Vegas...it's not a crime to talk to your spouse BUT if she helped him in any way while he was on the run, she is trouble with police...same as her sister will be..if she knew Christina was communicating with Cesar. Christina by all means in still very much in love with Cesar...they have a child together...I think Christina is a very immature individual..I say this because I know she believes her husbands story...I don't think she hasn't even contemplated the possibility of him killing Maria...she can't and won't ....it would ruin her life...it would mean her daughter's father is a killer...that would all be too painful for her...and her undying love for him is all she thinks about and all she feels. I think Cesar is very manipulative and very cunning and very much a ladies man...he will get what is due him once this case goes to trial. I am very relieved for Maria's family..they probably had just about given up hope of him being captured. So, As we watch this case unfold..let us not forget the tthree real victims in all of this...Maria of course...and the unbron baby she was carrying and Cesar Laurean's little daughter...who because of her father's selfishness and love of self won't have much of a relationship with him....and let us pray for justice for Maria and foremost.

Sutherland just said on Greta that they have several videos of Cesar in businesses not just the video from the hardware store which will be handed over to the DA's office. (Outside of the ATM...I wonder what the others are?)

He also mentioned he would not release the timeline of events due to being evidence.

You are not wrong. There have been way too many lies about this case.

The truth, however, will come out. Eventually. No matter what it takes.
