AZ Matthew Spencer, 28, Missing in Northern AZ 8/9/25 when moving to TX. Car possibly broke down

The area between Bellemont and Williams, AZ is even before you reach Flagstaff coming from Las Vegas (3.5 hours drive). He left LV on Aug 5th and the last of the Google searches happened on the 7th.

That’s 2 days of hanging around not very far from where he started and a whole 7+ hours from where he told his family he was in Cloudcroft, NM.

That’s very strange, IMO.

I actually wonder how reliable the Google data is. You can turn it off. What if he was in the Flagstaff area, car broke down but he got it fixed, then he turned off any tracking on his phone and went elsewhere for whatever reason.

I think the biggest clue is that the car hasn’t been found. It means he didn’t break down and abandon it where they think he did. Or it’s somewhere hard to see (and he might be with it). MOO

I wonder if anyone has checked auto salvage yards for Mathew's car. I ask because there was an illegal operation in my area where unoccupied vehicles were being towed to an auto salvage yard and quickly sold as 'junked cars'. The tow truck driver often cruised the highways looking for broken down cars. If this happened to Mathew he would be without a car and at the mercy of complete strangers.

I wonder if anyone has checked auto salvage yards for Mathew's car. I ask because there was an illegal operation in my area where unoccupied vehicles were being towed to an auto salvage yard and quickly sold as 'junked cars'. The tow truck driver often cruised the highways looking for broken down cars. If this happened to Mathew he would be without a car and at the mercy of complete strangers.

That’s really stupid of him because the VIN still would show in those transactions. So the cars don’t just disappear without a trail.

I agree with previous poster that the Google Location Data could be wrong. If he didn’t connect to satellite, had bad connection or switched location tracking off to preserve battery, is it possible the Google searches would still show the old location?

Moo..sounds like he had a battery problem. With luck someone may of been able jump start his car. So he may of traveled on, only for vehicle to fail again......moo
