Officials release names of two of three killed in icy I-95 accidents

They're saying in the article that they aren't sure if the tanker driver went over the bridge trying to avoid plowing into other vehicles that were already stopped/crashed. One of those mentioned in the article jumped or fell from the bridge in a different accident, but around the same time.
Almost every time I see stories like this, the semi drivers that died are rarely mentioned, as if they didn't matter at all. That always bothered me. It's as if they are villians. In this case, the driver might not have even been at fault, but even if he/she was, they still mattered. Here, they are saying the identity is being withheld pending an autopsy, and that may be, but they really don't need an autopsy to know who was driving that truck. They know, and I'm sure the family also knows by now. I'm guessing they might not want to release the name until they have a good idea whether or not the driver caused the accident or was trying to avoid an even bigger tragedy. My husband was a semi driver at one time. Tanker drivers make pretty good money around here, so he considered driving one, but didn't like the fact that he'd basically be driving what he called a "bomb on wheels."
There are some bad drivers out there, but most of them just want to get home to their families, and want you to be able to do the same. I suffer from panic attacks, and once told my husband I'd feel much better on the road if I drove a semi. His response to me was, "No, you wouldn't. If anything goes wrong, somebody could die. It most likely wouldn't be you, but you'd have to live with that for the rest of your life." I understood at that point why he really didn't like driving semis.
