Nice house.

Kids were home-schooled.

Tragic.

“Because authorities are having trouble notifying the next of kin of that adult male none of the names are being released, the sheriff added.

"We are not calling it a murder-suicide yet," Adams said. It was noted that there was no history of law enforcement calls of any nature to that address.”

This article makes it shound like there was one brief 911 call by a male (presumed to be the shooter) to report a woman and 3 children were already dead, but if that is true, i don’t understand the following bolded comments:

“Adams asked the public to keep the first responders in this incident in their thoughts and prayers as they have witnessed a horrific crime.’Not only for those on the scene but also the dispatchers,‘said DES Deputy Director John Donohue. He said dispatchers felt helpless listening to the course of events.”

Property records show the home at the address was sold in April 2020, and if that is when this family moved in, I wonder if the closure of many schools at that time (due to the pandemic) might be the reason the children were homeschooled (which could also mean remotely educated)?

According to Cecil County Sheriff Scott Adams, a man called 911 around 9 a.m. to report that a woman and three kids were shot to death.

The sheriff said the caller had no emotion.

"I think sometimes in these kind of events it's not uncommon. Almost catatonic," Adams said.

"The subject hung up. We attempted to make calls back and they went unanswered," Chief Deputy Gerald Widdoes said.

Officers arrived to find a man dead inside a garage. A handgun was found nearby.

Another body was found on the first floor. Three other bodies were found on the second floor.

Authorities didn't have the exact ages of the children, but said they were a 5th grader, a 7th grader and an 8th grader.

*I wish I wouldn’t have found this thread especially so early in the morning to start my day. I bow my head in silence…

This is local to me. WBFF FOX 45 (Baltimore) is now reporting their names. Such a tragedy. Marcus and Tera Milligan and their 3 children. There's a lot of sadness in her Facebook for the past month. Last weekend was the third anniversity of the couple losing a child to cancer. She lost her father in August. I didn't know them but have mutual friends. Regarding the question about schools being closed for the pandemic, I don't know specifically but this county was open more than the surrounding areas. Their house is for sale, sign visible in media coverage.

Very, very sad. This happens way too often. Financial problems?! Why?!

The realtor sign in the photo from the article gives me pause. Did this man commit a murder suicide due to financial stress? With the state of affairs of the world the past few years, so many families have endured stress like never before. Men think things out differently than women do and take on more stress and internalize it. They also act out in ways that women do not. I hope I am wrong here, but I am suspecting this will be ruled murder suicide.

So sad. Wow. How are these happening so frequently it seems?!
I am of the belief that we are seeing these things often due to the stress of the world. We have all endured so much over the past few years, and it seems like we keep taking hits in other ways. It causes a lot of stress, and that stress causes some people to just crack and they cannot find a way back out of the deep dark place they have entered.

I hear you. <3 But why take everyone with you, you know? That just blows my mind.

I do not understand that either. The only thing I can think of is that they do not want the others to keep suffering either.

Right. Or I feel like maybe they were embarrassed about financial fails and didn’t want to be exposed. I don’t know. It’s just beyond comprehension to me honestly.

I hope you are right, and it is something as simple as embarrassment, not that it would make the situation any better in our minds, but I noticed the article said they are trying to find motive. It could be anything! So something simple, as hard as that is to fathom is much better than the motive being because of something more sinister.

Well, the grief of losing their very young son only 3 yrs ago must have been too much for him to handle. Of course he made a bad choice. Their family and friends are speaking out and not saying anything poorly about him. Just a horrendous situation. looking back at the moms FB, it’s unfathomable what they went thru with their tot. Diagnosis, treatment, cancer free! Whew. Diagnosis, treatment, cancer free. For real this time! And then all again until it killed him. All with a toddler I think.

I’m sorry their family had to go thru this and then for their spouse/dad to feel the only way out of his pain was this awful act. So sad. I pray this family is all together now and no longer feeling pain. I also pray one day childhood cancer will no longer be a thing.

I think it's pretty clear from their family and friends' comments that he had been struggling with mental health for a while, and this was the breaking point. It's just so very sad.
