Can't say I disagree!! I do need to find a local media person interested. I spoke to a gentleman at the local paper who was one of the first on the scenes and wrote several articles...none of which I can find online. He kept in touch with me for a bit. I asked him to send me all the articles, he never did. Then he just stopped communicating. I have found that to the be case over and over...I start to feel like I make headway and then everything comes to a skretching hault and my contacts stop communicating with me...as if someone is shutting them down. Call me paranoid but it's a little suspicious.

maxaroad, is it possible the local paper has archives, possibly still on microfiche? Ancient for sure- but still exists in many local libraries, schools, and news station/reporting outlets.

Does the local library archive the newspapers? The newspapers in my area are archived way back in the local libraries. They could be on microfilm. Maybe someone at the library can help send you prints from the microfilm. All they need are some dates, names and subject. It may cost a few dollars for the copies, but I think it is reasonable.

Maxaroad, if you get the time and opportunity- could you mapquest (as best you can recall, from 22 yrs ago) the route of travel that most family members who attended the wake/funeral likely took? Especially the routes from Maxa Rd and the surrounding area?
I know you mentioned that ya'll knew your mom and grandmother were likely home when you arrived to pick them up because your moms car was in the drive. (I think I have that correct?)

Was her vehicle processed as a potential crime scene at the time? TIA if you can provide any of this info.

Gosh, I don't know the route. When I was there a year ago, I drove past the house, the church and went to the cemetary. I remember a very large intersection but other than the picture of it in my head, I couldn't tell you where it is. I can try to mapquest it myself.

I can do the mapping for you, maxa. I'll pull up the possible routes and see what would be most likely at that time of day, back then.

Another couple of questions- when you say the car was returned 'home', do you mean to CT? Do you know if it was solely registered in your mom's name? I assume if LE processed it, they would have to release it to any other individual it was registered to- or next of kin, if it was solely in your mom's name? (Unless she left a will citing the vehicle.)

I'm also interested in the scapular. Was it an heirloom? Sorry if I missed this somewhere.

I did find references to the show, it aired from 1989 to 1991, hosted by Edwin Hart, 104 episodes, 30 minutes. Modeled after Americas Most wanted. Two different police officers were co-hosts, but I couldn't find info on how to obtain a copy.

A friend of the family had taped it and put it on a DVD for me. I have never been able to find it online.

Were there other teenagers in the nieghborhood? Here is a story where teenagers broke into a home in NH and killed a woman while she was in bed. Her young daughter was attacked as well, but survived. These teens did it for kicks. That was there aim.

I hope there's some kind of evidence out there that can be tested. Unfortunately, when @maxaroad contacted the local PD, they seemed indifferent to cold cases. It's a terrible brutal case...
