"a portion of a motorcycle"? It must have been a violent accident. I guess they would have mentioned a helmet if there was one, so maybe that's why they're not certain that was in fact what happened. No serial numbers or make/model for the bike?

ETA A few more puzzles. A 38 waist is not that large. But the 5X shirt sounds way bigger than that. Also, the lower end of the age range (10-18) sounds a bit low for someone with stubble and a goatee.

I think there are some issues with this entry in Namus. With addition to everything you mention above, the case file also indicates a PMI of Years, but says he had "Stubble, small goatee".

Akademiks (an intentional misspelling of "academics") is an American brand of streetwear clothing popular with devotees of hip hop music, art and fashion. The label was founded by two brothers, Donwan and Emmett Harrell, along with a group of partners.

It's possible for facial hair to stay intact if the remains were mummified, as this person apparently was.

Unlikely to have facial hair at 10 years old, though - I agree he was probably on the upper end of the age range.

Thanks! I guess I rolled right past that :)

oversized white t-shirts were popular in hip-hop fashion around this time period, the huge size disparity may be related to that

Good insight. I wondered if that and the AKDMKS belt might indicate this is somehow connected to the "Wheels Up, Guns Down" movement which has gained a lot of notoriety recently here in NC with dirt bike and ATV riders riding en masse on city streets. From what I can tell it was started in either Philadelphia or Miami about ten years ago. There could have been prior gatherings of dirt bike riders elsewhere in east coast cities before then. But that's just speculation as I have not found any accounts of such events in Baltimore. So I'm not sure about it fitting the time frame, but it could explain why there were no useful identifiers like a license plate or serial number on the bike.

Just looking at this case again, I'm not sure how the above info was produced on a search, but looking today, it appears the founder may be different. The line started in 1999.

This case baffles me. I can't find any articles - maybe I'm not searching correctly. Can anyone else find anything?

I mean, honestly, if he was thought to be as young as 10, and maybe even as old as 18, given this is a sort of "newer case" especially, one would think articles would be around.

Maybe NCMEC has his case, maybe they don't. I'm not seeing his case on their NCMEC Unidentified Child Map. They have become quite protective of info, even not confirming whether or not they carry a case, but I will call them on it - and the MEs office too to see if I can glean any additional information - stay tuned.

How long does it take to be mummified?

What about Stephen Beard? He was 14 years old, 5’9, and was last seen in Baltimore in June of 2001.

From The Charley Project:
Stephen was last seen by his guardian in Baltimore, Maryland on June 2, 2001. He frequented the areas of North Avenue, Calvert and Charles streets in Baltimore, particularly night clubs in that area, prior to his disappearance. He may also be in Virginia.

He goes by the nickname "Chrissy."

@Caring1 Please help us. Has Stephen been excluded for this teenage boy? It seems obvious they should have been compared, but who knows.

Stephen's profile states he was last seen by his guardian. Was he in foster care? Maybe DNA is hard to come by to make a match? :(
