Police issued a Purple Alert on Friday night for Brandon Lee Smith, 27, who was last seen on the 5400 block of McGrath Boulevard in Rockville at 7 p.m. Police issued their alert at around 9:30 p.m.

Officers warned anyone who locates Smith to approach him "calmly and slowly," while listing generic instructions for communicating with missing adults with autism.
"Avoid sudden movements or loud noises," MCPD's alert reads. "... Speak in a gentle, reassuring tone, even if the person does not respond verbally. Most importantly, ensure their safety and wait for police to arrive."
